Unit requests thread

Hello I got a problem with this unit:

When I am trying to look at it in game the game freezes.

I've never heard of that with an art problem. Make sure the art_def is the same. If it is, then change the art, just have it lead to some random art that you know works, say the rifleman. If the unit shows up, your problem is indeed with the art, if it still has a problem, you know there is no problem with the art, but instead with your unit xml.

yeah tried that - pointed art to a different unit - its loads up fine.
Usually when I get .nif path wrong I get red blob - but this things just freezes....
 
that's really odd, ive never had that happen to me

Other ideas I try while troubleshooting similar problems
-Remove the kfm, just have it blank
-Replace the actual art, keep the same file location. ex put rifleman.nif in the folder and name it OttomanBombardLateWheels
-Change what button it loads
-try to find it in a working mod, and then take it from there
 
Red blobs mean the art define for the unit has bad paths or missing files, but a freeze or crash like you describe mean the art define itself is missing or broken. Check how the tag is entered in both CIV4UnitInfos.xml and CIV4UnitArtStyleTypeinfos.xml.
 
Ok I got it to work ... <gasp>... I re-downloaded it =) So I guess the files were just corrupted.

I got one more thing to ask - could anyone enable team coloring on this unit for me?
I know how to modify alpha-channel dts file, but the model won't display the team color - instead the section I made alpha-channel for shows up as completely transparent in game.

Or instruct me how to do it if you could. I have tried various tutorials in Tutorial section - nothing works for me =(

Could anyone convert the cow ressource the bison from this pack to an animated unit? I would need movement, melee attack and dieing animations for both. Perhaps this type of unit already exists?
 
Does anybody know if there is a dog-sled unit around? Or would anybody be willing to create one for me? Preferably with 2 to 4 dogs and one rider? If somebody is willing to create it I have all the models necessary to do it, so send me a PM and we can start working on it. I need it for the UU for an inuit civ I am making for my mod, complete with awesome flavored units. :goodjob:

EDIT: Or if there is a Chariot that is drawn by wolves I am sure I can edit it appropriately, I just haven't seen one.

Ask The Capo to do it. He's pretty good at blender... oh wait What the What???? How come you don't just rig the wolf unit to a chariot? the dogs don't have to be the same size as the horses they just need to be rigged in the right place.

In all seriousness, I have more than a full plate ahead of me, so I was hoping for a little help, but I suppose I could take a stab at it.
 
As I understand you have all modells, what is missing now? The animations, or just put them together with nifscope, or transform them from another form to .nif? :confused: I think we need to know, to decide, if someone of us can do it for you.

You didn't delete the NiSkinPartition, which I remember causes problems.
