Assuming you have "doing everything right" (as all peoples with computer problem) and all your stuff work correctly (even if hard disks can be suprisingly good bastards), i say your problem is a short-circuit in the box itself, or in the ON/OFF or Reboot switchs. Of course, that sort of thing shoot your stuff quickly.

Before trying a new box, there is also another thing you can try :

1° Buy (or download and burn) some Linux Live CD (i suggest ubuntu, because i know it better).
2° Boot. Enter in the BIOS.
3° Put the CD drive in first in the boot sequence.
4° Save, Exit, Reboot.
5° When the Linux CD load, choose "check disk for defect" (this software need time for load).
6° When it's finished, even if it find nothing, at least unmounting problem are made right.
7° Try your windows.
8° If that still don't work, reboot, still with the Live CD, choose the "try Ubuntu without any change...".
9° If the Linux load completely play a little with it and see if it work.
10° Open the "Place" menu. Click on the icons that show a hard disk (that "mount" them). That for each disk partition.
11° Try to surf in your partition.
12° Reboot, try your windows.

Thank you for playing, however the problem identified occurs during the post. This means that you cannot enter bios nor can you boot from a CD.

Yeah! How can I do any of that when NOTHING appears on the monitor? NO SIGNAL would be more than what I am getting now.

A computer expert you may be, but paying attention to detail you are not.

I got nothing helpful to say, other than when I first started reading your post about the store not returning the motherboard you bought from them the day before because it was defective, my first thought was "that sounds like every Fry's experience I have ever had."

Then I read it WAS Fry's you went to.

I hate Fry's.

Best of luck! This site is handicapped without you...

Okaaaaaay... Let's say it politely.

Your problem is simple. The only problem is there is more than one possible solution.
All peoples who really can "put together a computer blind folded" can devise how to find it. First by not breaking a CPU (oh god... How can you even break a CPU ? We are not in the 90's anymore !).
More now than at the start since you stressed a LOT your stuff, and what happen was a simple (and frequent) Windows problem morphed probably in a Master Boot problem (also simple), and then in a good "i broke my stuff" because no electrical stuff love to be put on/off continuously for 30 minutes of reboots (mister "i'm not an idiot").

You and your littles courtisans can't read a post, i'm okay with that. Let's repeat :

- Verifiy your disks with another OS. Because they don't look at the same things and possibly virus can't activate for, well, cheat at the checking (on your OTHER computer, of course. That was without saying, damnit !)

- Verify your box, your case, or whatever is in your language the name the box where all the cards and cables are into.

If you have new CPU, new MotherCard, New memory, if you are sure you have "enough" power (430W is a min with actual computers), if you are sure all cables are correctly set and in good shape, if you are sure all fans turn correctly, then it's probably the box, the case, the thing when all the stuff is.

Because it's what a short-circuit in the off/on and reboot buttons/cable, or even in the case itself, do. And it's the only thing you don't replaced.

Of course, no booting (with or without beep) can also being a problem with the lil' MB battery, with the safe mode (there is often a jumper on the MB), with the power supply box, something on an USB port (yes, stupid, but sometimes even a mouse can stop a computer from booting), a memory ship (or a slot) in bad shape, a daughter card not in place, forgot to put the Beeper cable in place, the heat sink not correctly put on the CPU, a CPU not correctly put on the MB or you forgot to put the power cable for the CPU, a CPU that don't go with your MB, etc...

Now go and kill yourself. No need to say thank (not like you ever learned this word, that right).

I did all that, you just didn't realize it.
720W enough power for you?

I feel handicapped not being able to create something every night. I can't even SHOOP right now.

I finally have time tomorrow where I'll return the 'newer' MB tomorrow and wash my hands of that place. But if they give me a hard time.. oh I will cause a scene.

I only wish you could say it politely.

Cpu's are made from silicon not exactly the most durable non breakable material. Nobody enjoys breaking one unfortunately it does happen. When a computer does not pass it's post test it can frequently go into a continous reboot cycle based upon manufacturer instructions.
The jumper on the main board while occasionally can be set for custom features generally is only used these days too set a bios password. If the computer passes the POST you then have the ability to enter the bios there is no option to do so beforehand. I do work as a MAR (Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher) so while I may not have all of your expert knowledge I do know how to diagnose and fix computers.

A 720 watt PSU will cover all of the newer cards so I would lean more towards a short occurring.

Using this other box with Win7 is a nightmare. At random times it just blue screens on me. I can be surfin, listening to music, watching a video or copying files and it just barfs all over me at random intervals.

I've been holding my breath over Win7 (I still keep an XP backup box for my Vista box) - any chance it's the culprit?

No, zero. I never put Win7 on my old machine. The borrowed box I got from my brother is what is running it. It's the ONLY way I am able to get online.. but I'm not able to run most of the programs on my old drives with it. If I take it out and run the box totaly on my old drives as XP, then I'm lacking all the drivers for the motherboard so it doesn't recognize any hardware, including CD, gfx cards, ethernet port etc etc etc.

So I can either use my old drives and be crippled... or do what I currently am doing and be only half crippled.

Any news, bud?

As of this moment the parts are still sitting @ the FedEx warehouse in Dallas.. where they arrived YESTERDAY.. and I don't have an ETA for it yet.

3 days delivery my aunt Fannie! I ordered it thursday night.. been more than 3 days.

Ship date Apr 30, 2010
Estimated delivery May 5, 2010 by 4:30 PM

Got the parts this afternoon. Plugged it all in and it didn't work. I'm not even slightly surprised.

When it booted, it wouldn't let me get into the BIOS. Just said something about USB memory not installed, will shut down in 15 seconds..........

I'm dropping it off @ my bros and letting him worry about it because I have work soon.

(Sigh)

Some very odd occurrences going on I use Win7 pro 64 bit with 4 gigs of memory and have not gotten a blue screen yet.....although I received a boot error after connecting my DSLR because it cannot find the HDD. That was easy to fix however.
USB memory is normally a flash drive that has ready boost. Did you initially have a flash drive enabled for ready boost and it is no longer plugged in?
That is a good MOBO and CPU I use ASUS myself.
@Ozzie, computers are actually very simple they only do what they are told to do so do not give up.

Yeah, all the parts registered when I booted so that was a good sign. But I've never used a flash for a boot drive, and this was just how the MOBO was set up.
I can't fix it atm because I 1)don't have my flash currently in my possession and 2) I'm at work, which is why I left it at my bros.

I purposefuly was NOT excited when it came because I knew I would be dissapointed... so I wouldn't have so far to crash when it happened.

Like a freaking Comedy of Errors.

If one were to take a gaggle of IT Geeks and told them to write a musical comedy about their job, they couldn't write half of the nonsensical hoops I've had to jump through this past month to get my stuff together.

When I got the parts yesterday, I plugged everything in and flipped the switch. It turned off instantly. Well it turns out it just doesn't like my 700W power supply.
So I put in an older 400W that I have, but had news, only 2 SATA plugs on it, and I have more than 2 SATA hard drives. :(

Everything boots up fine, it recognized everything.... but..... says something about a flash boot disk.. so I left it alone. Had no time to fiddle with it before work. When I looked up the problem, turns out that I had screwed the bottom end of my MOBO directly to the frame.

That fixed it... for a moment.

Now the MOBO doesn't like the WindowsXP I have on my main drive. The same HD that has worked in every other computer I've put it in. So my bro put in a spare HD with WinXP64, and that seemed to work.

So now Im back @ my place and Im about to spend the rest of the night trying to either
1) Repair the XP drive.
2) or juggle a bunch of stuff around and fit it on the much smaller WinXP64 HD.
:wallbash:

Well I've got 4L of Coca-Cola, and lot of alcohol and no work tomorrow. Let's see what happens.
