Up for an expansive game?

@Folket: good point about growing Trojan Horse paying back late.

----------------

I think the Market will pay back fairly quickly, but I'm not sure about its whippage.

Important: I think we should hold on to Paper monopoly as long as possible because it keeps AIs 2 techs away from Lib, making it impossible for them to choose to go for it (they can still choose to go for Education obviously)

----------------

Nice screenie Ras, "In Rustenberg Veritas" :xmascheers:

And a warm welcome back to the Dosh' ;)

Even after starving the our capital for two scientists it will be larger then Rustenberg. Will we change to OR or theology after the GA? I think Theocracy is the better choice. It adds 32 hammers to the cost of the Taj but the extra experience is very nice.

+1 for theo. We'll be doing troops for a long time I bet :scan:

Why did we not get Theocracy?

Because izzy didn t want to trade it. I'll post comments after work

I see, that makes sense. Well done then. We are on track to conquer everything.

HC begged us for music after we traded it to Izzy for gold and maps (I proceeded with selling maps to everyone) and we gave in, earning cautious diplo status.

After that Ragnar and Izzy got philo so we sold it to HC for 120 gold, getting pleased diplo status with incans...

So paper was our only monopoly tech at the end of the GA, and I vetoed a paper <=> theology trade to prevent AIs to start lib beelines (I even refused a beg from Izzy for it).

Instead I went back to slavery/OR in order to help with troops/Taj. We can still do another bit of caste/pacifism in the Taj golden age.

Speaking of which I just ended the marble trade (instead, we get the gold with crabs) to Izzy so we can have the bonus for the wonder. We can start it after the market in The evidence (but will add polution to GP pool) or start it in The fact (workers chopping there, just in case) or Rustenberg (I forgot to start a missionary - The fact can do it should this city do the wonder)...

Civ4ScreenShot04581_zpsc208b6a9.jpg

After being size 13, starving the cap wasn't worth it, we"ll still have the GPs on time (provided we don't get an artist next turn)

next techs should be edu -> lib -> MT -> gunpowder I guess.

Nothing of importance regarding the spanish/mayan war.

builds: market in cap (some turns producing gold still) on going; did some forges, one lib , and some barracks are being done. Added a couple of workers too. We should get some missionaries done I think... and the Taj Mahal!

Oh, I completly forgot about the remaining settler  Feel free to settle :hide:

It looks very nice. :) Some cities have no whip anger, which, coupled with specialists, is usually a good sign that some infrastructure or units/Missionaries should be :whipped: .

We are cutting it a little close with Lib, given that the UoS and Angkor Wat have been built on the other continent. Still, that was the choice we made in opting for Military Tradition over Nationalism. We need to self-tech Compass, I think?

Resource deals with HC should be redone. I am fairly sure that we can trade one resource for all his GPT and the other two for Ivory. War Elephants are a heck of a lot cheaper to upgrade than Chariots.

Are we going to build stables or go for theo/vassalage? If UoS has been built then we can probably consider paper trade.

I think we should have traded paper for theocracy. We are close to liberalism and I do not fear anyone on the continent. But that is water under the bridge now.

We should start building the Taj mahal. I could go either way on stable but I would not be building them myself. I do not see that we need anarchy so close to our goals.

Got it. :)

Didn't read through the thread yet but I'll have time to do so tomorrow and hopefully post a PPP as well. I should be able to post regularly from this weekend and onwards.

Situation looks really good.

So as far as I understand the plan is to mop up Huayna and Ragnar with cuirassiers?

Seems fair!

Plans for set:

-Spread religion to the 2 northern cities.

-Start on the Taj. Which city do you prefer? 'Fact' looks decent enough with the 4 forests and high production. Or maybe 'evidence' as the pollution won't be as big of a problem at this point, we can use a potential great artist for a GA together with a GS.

-Research compass and 2x bulb education next turn if we get another GS. If we get a GA then 1x edu and 1x lib? Take MT from lib and then move onto gunpowder.

-Resources: What Doshin said -- renegotiate with Huayna and get ivory if possible.

-Builds: Just gearing up for war. Getting only the basic required infrastructure and then starting on units (elephants) which will get upgraded for gold. I don't know about stables or not, with theocracy as a civic they don't add much for the type of war we're having. We already get the 2nd promo and the 3rd won't be unlocked until after battle. I guess it's still worth it in high-production cities.

-Trades: Paper+compass (when in) for HBR+theology from Izzy? And if so, follow up with education for machinery+feudalism?

-Civics: Theocracy in Taj GA.

-Stop war between Spain and Inca if Izzy starts breaking through and capturing cities.

I'm out of the loop so I might've forgotten something, don't presume that I forgot to mention it, so let me know.

Smooth sailing. Everything went according to plan and good fortune along the way.

Won't write too much of a report as there was little action, but:

Highlights:

-Settled a new city (named Wailin') by the whale with the idle settler. Better than doing nothing with it. We're not far off optics -- whale soon.

-Resource negotiation went well.
Spoiler :

-I sent 2 swords up north to spy on the war between Huayna and Izzy to know what's going on in regards to brokering peace and there's heavy fighting going on, but Izzy is not making progress. The stack below was obliterated.
Spoiler :
SORAU2y.jpg

-Trade that was not set in PPP. Gets him out of vassalage (easier for us later) and nets some gold.
Spoiler :
VBhTc1X.jpg

-Liberalism for guilds+gold to Izzy. Enabled knights as cities were finishing stables and WEs needed construction still, and speeds up research of gunpowder. Accidentally finished one knight before completing stable (:(), completely unnecessary, was doing some whip queueing.

Played 8 (I think) turns but handing it over as I have to stop anyway. Taj Mahal due next turn and gunpowder soon. Rustenberg has buddhism but the spread to city #2 failed so we need a 3rd missionary (Rustenberg looks a natural candidate).
I have not whipped much as we're 1 turn away from a GA. I only did it when cities were running really rubbish tiles.

Checking a roster looks like I'm Up.

Gottit.

Maybe trade nationalism to Isabella for banking, construction, drama: all potentially useful techs.

Maybe consider economics after gunpowder.

I guess its about building units during GA and then whipping hard after GA.

Civics wise I'm wondering about vassalage+theo for 9xp cuirassiers.

I like economics. But optics is good as well. If we have traded away education to Isabella optics look better.

Shall we start running artists for our cultural victory now?

So you are alive?! I was getting lonely in here.

I'd prefer to pick up optics via trade. Ragnar has it already, so it's bound to become available at some point. Maybe as extortion from Huayna.

Vassalage+Theo is a possibility, but our capital is really big and healthy at this point. :dunno:

Is culture VC the plan? :vomit: ;)
I was hoping for some air warfare for once. :p

Yeap, you are up pigswill!

Shall we start running artists for our cultural victory now?

 nice one.

(well if everybody want this, I'll obey, but that's not my idea, quite the opposite :hammer:)

So you are alive?! I was getting lonely in here.

Yeah, sorry for the lack of reply this week end.

I'd stay in bureau till we are so big nationhood becomes an eco trait. :D

I was hoping for some air warfare for once. :p

warfare it is ...I would follow rifling path (then zeppelin path :scan:) with maybe a detour by chemestry and/or representation (or rather the tech which unlocks it).

economics? for upgrades (?) or will it get us rifling faster?
