Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes - March 25, 2025

Roman towns with culture buildings? Yes.
Sounds like they only needed to reduce one of those yield groups, then...

Also, seeing the Revenge change, I'm shocked that they apparently didn't mention that in the patch notes. That's one of those "easy win" mentions to make people happy and feel like the developers are quickly responding to player issues.

A lotta indirect buffs to deity AI from combat strength nerfs and the bugfix to the AI general XP modifier.
The AI preferring combat strength promotions could be a big game changer if it gets better with general maneuvering.

The trade outpost specialization could be fun to play around with, esp with going further inland from a coastal start and actually connecting towns to the cities you want to feed.

I agree this was a good strategy. But was it OP, on the level of getting nerfed harder than the Mayans?? That's insane.
I'ma lose my marbles if it was because of some youtuber overhyping it, extra marbles if they weren't that good to begin with.

So, reading through the notes again, in the leaders and civs section there is a total of 15 nerfs (some of them massive), 7 bugfixes and 2 minor buffs (GB policy and earlier wonder for Maya). Nobody's playstyle ends up looking improved as a result, at least one unique playstyle gets absolutely gutted, and the modern age is made longer, without significantly changing the flow of the age in any way.

Overall, a pretty rough patch - all greens, no dessert. There is zero civs or leaders where it makes me go "oh, I can't wait to try the new version out" and a three or four that fall under "not sure I want to touch them". Particularly baffling to see someone like Majapahit gutted while Abbasids stay intact, and Normans get no love to their traditions.

Saw someone point this out on reddit, but the pics in the patch notes have about 6 new resources in the pictures.
2 strats (something wooden and rice/white rock looking), 3 bonus(cattle, red gems/ruby, llama), 1 city (some 3 pronged yellow fruit on a plantation?)
Dunno if it's this patch or they accidentally showed it off before they implemented it, gotta play more.

The resource icons are far too small now; barely visable. The Marble and Gold ones just blend in with the background. I also don't like the black boarder around the units... too chunky...
Also who wanted the "pips" around the era progress? What was difficult about understanding 70%, 80% and 90%? If you're playing this game surely you understand basic maths and know how many more percent you are close to each of those and don't need an extra visual indicator to show you? It's pointless and an eyesore!

Agree 100%!!

I'm not sure -- can a boat expert chime in? I'm currently in a Meiji game, so my battleship unit is unavailable for comparison.
They did a 'quick fix", changing the main gun turrets from the standard 3 x 3 to the Revenge class 4 x 2, but kept the multi-purpose secondary turrets along the sides like the standard ship model - which the Revenge class never got, since they were never upgraded between the World Wars.

Here is a plan of the Revenge as built in 1915 - 1916, and to which it adhered until 1945

The resulting in-game graphic doesn't have the correct configuration of conning tower and masts or the correct hull configuration, so would not be acceptable as a recognition model BUT since it only (so far) has to differentiate from the Iowa-class type standard Battleship, it will work for us in the game.

Play with enough people in a lot of different games and you'll understand nothing is too much when it comes to making things easier for the majority of people.
Friends that I thought had gamer grit got filtered by classic wow recently and had to install a giant arrow mod vs use the map and quest text like in an rpg or they'd stop playing in their words. Even though we're all about the same age and been through the similar jank stuff.
Hopefully they have a toggle for those who are used to it though.

Zoom out and the icons get larger! :D

The icons are perfect size for 1440p.

I agree about the pips on the progress meter. Seems like pointless clutter to me.
