Use of Chemical Weapons in Syria

Or even more football metaphors.

I used a football metaphor which no one outside this forum will see. The Obama admin officially used a cheerio metaphor. That's the one the world is supposed to fear.

It's 4th and 20 with the ball on the US' 2 yard line. Without a 7th Inning Stretch our full-court press will end up Love-Love and Russia will get Pole Position. This is not time to try for a knockout.

Edit: Translation: US has painted itself into a corner with its red line. Russia is brokering a way out. Take it! You get rid of chemical weapons and don't have to bomb anything!

I eat my cheerios with chopsticks.

That's the Skyfall army band again. They're a pretty scruffy lot, imo.

And the lead singer is a right skinny runt. (Pardon my personal remarks.)

What they lack in talent, they make up with big hats.

The overall effect is lack-lustre. Maybe they've escaped from some institution of a protective nature?

Now you are thinking like the leader of the free world.

BTW not bombing anything is the right move and has been from the get go, which is what really irritates me about this whole thing. We made ourselves look absolutely ridiculous and ceded power and influence to Russia for no reason at all.

Not bombing caused the latter though...?

Restraining is not necessarily the best course of action.

No, as reindeerthistle pointed out, the red line comment painted us into a corner. It was not necessary to make any such comment, whether we meant to bomb them or not at the time. First gaffe that set up the humiliating run of bafoonery I have been mocking this entire thread.

Yes, this has been repeated by everyone myself included.

The comment was designed to keep us out the conflict. I think it was a well intentioned and well though out red line. Who thought Assad would use chemical weapons?

"Listen you guys, I've had it up to here with you lot!!!! That's the 10th time this month I've found sht in my boots in the morning. Once was funny, twice and...OK...twice it was still funny... But this has got to be it now, you hear me? Already I'm getting the nickname on the base of Sergeant "sht in his boots". It's not funny any more. Right!!! If it happens just once more...I'll....If it happens more than twi..five times more...And I don't know what I'll do!!! But you'll be sorry. OK!!!... I said, OK?!!!"

Newsflash U.S., Russia agree to deal on Syria chemical weapons

GENEVA|Sat Sep 14, 2013 7:18am EDT; (Reuters) - The United States and Russia have agreed on a proposal to eliminate Syria's chemical weapons arsenal, Secretary of State John Kerry said on Saturday after nearly three days of talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Kerry said that, under the pact, Syria must submit a "comprehensive listing" of its chemical weapons stockpiles within one week.

Kerry, at a press conference with Lavrov, said that under the agreement, U.N. weapons inspectors must be on the ground in Syria no later than November. The goal, he said, is the complete destruction of Syria's chemical weapons by the middle of 2014.
Kerry and Lavrov said that if Syria does not comply with the agreement, which must be finalized by the Organization for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons, it would face consequences under Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter, the part that covers sanctions and military action.

Holy #&*%! Well, if I am wrong, I am happily wrong.

If Obama is smart, he'll do the best he can to pin the execution of this on the Russians.

Then from there we give all the weapons to the rebels.

Then we win?
