User Interface

Do the symbols on the fog mean anything? I think I missed that with everyrhing else coming out.

I think the large amount of negative space might also be due to the 4K resolution. And we also don't know (but can assume) that UI size will be scalable.

From what I've seen so far it looks good. Clean and simple. Information seems ro pop more here than in civ6. I like the fog of war. Didn't like them in 5-6, preferred 4's blackness. But this looks cool and gives a nice boardgamy feel.

City capacity!!

I like it a lot as an addition, though I'd be even more excited to see stability / core cities mechanics. (so you can expand over capacity, but those cities might not be yours to keep...)

I like it a lot, it is sure a great way to balance tall versus wide. They say there will be ways to unlock more city lots, but that will be most of the time by neglecting other bonus, so the choice will be relevant.

Let's wait to see what type of mechanism they put to deal with military pushs (vasal cities, encampements, what else?^^).

The map itself is beautiful, the tile animations and the consistency of the design. I also like the age and completed tech/civics pop-ups.

However, I really dislike the rest of the UI. It may be because it looks too small in the trailer, but I just don't find it very intuitive in general. It seems like they're ditching the jerseys for unit icons, too. I guess it's because of the "consistency" aspect, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense in this context in particular.

So it's either because it's too bland or too small, but I'm hoping for an overhaul.

I just remembered that Civ V actually has literal fog as their fog of war, I turned that off long ago so I've been playing with harsh hexagon borders for about 10 years

I wonder what will be skinnable, or if UI elements can be modded. If they can then I'm sure we'll have Civ V and Civ VI skin mods out soon enough

UI is clearly work in progress, but I don't think general art direction will change, too much work for several months. So, we could more or less rely on it, but not the exact buttons, etc.

I don't like the unexplored area cover. Both CIv 5 and 6 looked better to me. Also, the overall dark UI is a bit depressing. But not a big problem, we'll get used to it really fast.

I found that, too. The dull and dark colors look like dark age in Civ 6. And I don't know if that is a good thing...

I love where this is headed but I am convinced this is only giving us the idea of layout and such I think the final UI including fonts and icons will look considerably different and much more polished. It most certainly has unfunished and work in progress feel to it if that makes sense.

So much blank space here, and why is the font so small?
