[MOD] v41 SVN and GithubDesktop Bugs and Crashes Single player

It has happened more once now anyways.
I'm playing a single-plot island custom game, so I only have the city plot to rely on.
And it was very obvious that between one tech and the other, ALL of my ships (except Workboat) suddenly disappeared from the building queue.
But that's not all, because I know for sure that I built Kilgii Gwaay and Venus of Willendorf, yet those literally disappeared from EVERYWHERE, even the Top 5 screen list.
This isn't fault of obsoletion - you need WOOD to build ships :D

Even if it worked as it used to, you still wouldn't be able to build ships.
If there was forest, then it got destroyed by growing city.

Resources are CRITICAL for gameplay.
Palace should give all map resources, so sea one city challenge could work at all.

And I COULD build ships up to Outriggers - until I researched something around Trade (didn't exactly trace it).
Also, you are ignoring a much BIGGER FACT:
My Wonders disappeared into the void after their obsoletion.
FULLY ERASED - from the CITY and from the TOP 5 LIST.
As if I NEVER built them in the first place.
So, NO, there IS a problem with the GENERAL mechanic of building obsoletion - I just don't understand WHAT exactly.
You are focusing on the entirely wrong (lesser and circumstantial) problem here.

Yeah until forest got razed by city, and I already reported issue with obsoletions wiping history altogether on discord
I guess I can ping @Toffer90 there

I wonder why nobody else realized this, eh.
Can't wait for a fix, because it's really annoying.
Sure, I can play yet another "weird challenge", but sometimes enough is enough.

I don't really see the need for each city to spend RAM on remembering what building it used to have, but no longer has.
Are you saying that obsolete buildings will now LITERALLY *poof* into nothingness?
You do realize that will screw with resources BIG TIME, not to mention that obsolete Wonders shouldn't really DISAPPEAR entirely?
What the HECK?!

How will it mess with resources? There are replacement buildings. The game is smoother now it is not trying to remember everything.

What part of "magically disappearing obsolete Wonders" makes ANY sense, huh?
I fully find this decision regarding obsoletion to be VERY STUPID, period.

The part where the city screen opens smoothly later in the game, and it is not bogged with pointless data. What good are obsolete wonders anyway? Congrats you built a bunch of wonders that are now useless. Or when you mouse over city bar there are no longer a **** ton of pointless and confusing icons.

One, that ruins the "real life taste" of the game ENTIRELY.
Obsolete real life Wonders DON'T suddenly poof out of existence, ya know.
Two, RESOURCE-giving buildings should really only obsolete at the techs that provide "more modern" versions of the same resource.
Otherwise there WILL be utterly stupid "gaps" between you having a large roster of available units - and then suddenly having only a half of it for some 100 next turns.
That's REALLY STUPID and UTTERLY ANNOYING.
Let alone ABSOLUTELY UNREALISTIC.
The whole idea of "obsoletion" is all about "replacing it with BETTER STUFF", not "REMOVING ACCESS to something that worked yesterday, but doesn't today".
And I don't plan on changing my opinion on this.

Well neither do I, I am glad to have a smooth game for once. But I know my opinion is probably less than yours, and they will put all that crap back. As for resources I have not run into this supposed gap of obsoleting.

My opinion is worth as much as yours or anyone's - a single person who isn't directly on the modding staff.
That said, this mod still does try to keep being "realistic" as much as possible, so my point (not my opinion per say) is actually valid anyways.
And if you (or the mod staff) want to reduce the number of (non-Wonder) buildings that are "remembered" - there's always "mass-replacement" that is happening already anyways.
It sure will need a much more extensive looking into the chains of buildings, but it's very much doable to "coalesce" many older buildings into single modern ones through replacement.
That way you end up with a much lower number of currently (at any point) present buildings, yet you don't magically poof Wonders out of existence for some stupid mechanic that makes no sense whatsoever.

It does make sense for a smooth game. I am tired of having memory allocation failures, and don't want more because you want a bunch of crap information sitting around.

And now for something completely different...

May I ask why the graphics for Modern Infantry are a medieval horseman?

Thanks!

Check your graphic settings, there are several options that can cause weird unit graphics. You can not run low graphics and frozen animations in this mod unless you want weirdness.

Here is a screenshot of my graphics options I use and don't get any weirdness.

What I mean is, I still was getting the horsemen graphic despite using your settings.

I also looked in the Pedia at the page for Modern Infantry, and the image at the upper right was of a horseman.
It's an option regarding showing unit animations that fixes this.

Wow... melodrama mastery achieved.

There are legacy buildings that replace them if effects of any kind are intended to carry on IIRC. Yes, it does mess up the city score screen a bit. Wouldn't say that's in a critical way really. Meh.
