Varietas Delectat for Rhye's and Fall

Setting up VD for yourself is quite possible. I did it some time ago, following Embryodead's (I believe it was he, anyway) instructions; iirc this was what it was (to be safe you should check the previous pages for his actual instructions):

1. Download the latest VD, which is already in modular form.
2. Copy-paste the VD files into DoC EXCEPT the CIV4ArtDefines_Unit.xml and CIV4UnitInfos.xml files.
3. This is the annoying part. Taking a copy of DoC's CivilizationInfos, change its <ArtStyleType> and <UnitArtStyleType> contents to match the tag contents in VD_CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml. This might have already been done and posted somewhere in this thread - but it doesn't take long, in any case. These two tags basically define what kind art is used for the civ; VD uses different, more specific values than vanilla. However, RFC/DoC makes its own changes compared to vanilla (to the civics, for example), which is we are merging the files.
4. Replace the original VD_CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml with the edited DoC CivilizationInfos (which should be renamed, of course).
5. There are some other things (like fixing the Persian Immortal), but it should work now. Set ModularLoading to 1 and try it out.

Thanks Orka

Just rediscovered Civ 4 and RFC - forgot how good it is. With this guide, I am now able to play DoC with VD:king:

The popularity has waned since Rhye released the last version and it wasn't up to date anymore. I remember it was quite popular until that point.

So wait? This mod no longer exists and no one has thought of recreating it?
I can't even download the old versions as the link no longer works.

The worst part is that the VD installer won't let me have two copies of VD on my system and I have an old copy installed for a project of mine so I can't even do it my self...

I disagree, it could become wiledly popular (I use it and its AMAZING), if it was just updated, and also if you could put it in your mod, than the units would look SOO much better!

I completely and utterly second this motion.

You misunderstood me. I replied to someone who said this isn't continued because it wasn't popular, and a only stated that it's only not popular anymore because it wasn't continued after the last version of RFC.

oh ok, fair enough. Would you perhaps know how to update it?

Orka said how to do it. It's even still on the same page.

At this point I think Ill just spell it out. There are those that can't even fallow those instructions due to lack of skill or technical complications. And these people are asking someone, anyone to do it for them and upload it somewhere.

Maybe I can get to do that later on. Does somebody still have Lone Wolf's old version and can reupload it so I don't have to start from scratch?

Well, I do have it but it's outdated (based on 9.0), buggy and non-modular... You're better off using using latest VD and this:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=9369511#post9369511 - less work all in all.

At least it will work with RFC/RAND/RFCM and with Orka's changes, DoC. Still requires at least changing the INI (modularloading) or packing it as standlone. Just realized I promised to do the modular installer some time ago, oh well, sorry  Never got around learning how to make a nsis installer that would let you choose where to install.

You can simply extract the VD installer with a good archive manager (I use 7-Zip).

I can follow instructions, actually. But I still get XML errors and no fun.

So, I got everything running with onedreamer's instructions and his fixes, only problem I have is a Python exception thrown by WBDesc.py, for some reason (I suppose something's still missing). I'm too lazy to create a proper modular version for it at the moment, but I sure could upload the whole thing (i.e. as RFC VD) once that problem's sorted out.

I feel so stupid now. Thank you for enlightening me.

Downloading.

EDIT: I tried both win zip and win rar and both failed. They return an archive corrupted message.
I had to go install 7zip to make it work. But hurray!

Also,

Leoreth! :goodjob:
Infinite thumbs up if you do that.

Problem found and fixed. Basically I only compiled the VD files with the fixes and necessary changes to RFC by onedreamer into some kind of patch.

It is available here.

All you have to do is download the archive there and unpack it into your RFC folder. Overwrite everything.
