Setting up VD for yourself is quite possible. I did it some time ago, following Embryodead's (I believe it was he, anyway) instructions; iirc this was what it was (to be safe you should check the previous pages for his actual instructions): 1. Download the latest VD, which is already in modular form. 2. Copy-paste the VD files into DoC EXCEPT the CIV4ArtDefines_Unit.xml and CIV4UnitInfos.xml files. 3. This is the annoying part. Taking a copy of DoC's CivilizationInfos, change its <ArtStyleType> and <UnitArtStyleType> contents to match the tag contents in VD_CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml. This might have already been done and posted somewhere in this thread - but it doesn't take long, in any case. These two tags basically define what kind art is used for the civ; VD uses different, more specific values than vanilla. However, RFC/DoC makes its own changes compared to vanilla (to the civics, for example), which is we are merging the files. 4. Replace the original VD_CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml with the edited DoC CivilizationInfos (which should be renamed, of course). 5. There are some other things (like fixing the Persian Immortal), but it should work now. Set ModularLoading to 1 and try it out.
