Very quick noob SG

Don't forget one of our GPs is an engineer.... why "waste" him on a GA when he can be used here first. Then if you're not close enough use the other two GPs to trigger a GA. Doesn't make sense (to me) to use a GA for the sole purpose of getting another GA. Course I could be missing something.

Very good point. Anytime you have a engineer, he can build the Taj, for a single-person GA. I think this would be a great time to trigger a GA too, to get our infra back in order once we wipe JC off the map.

Sorry about not switching to PS, I didn't think to check as I didn't start the war. I'm not very good at switching civics, because I hate anarchy - even though we're spiritual, I usually feel (although unfounded) as if I don't know exactly what will happen when I switch. Something I need to work on to take the next level...

About Police State - I think its too late to revolt to it since the war should be over soon and war weariness disappears right after the war is over. Also, it would slow us down to switch back to OR.

About research - I understand the reasoning for Combustion, but do you think it should be done after or before getting infantries and factories? Oh I'll make a small detour to Communism for State Property.

About the Taj - I think I'll use the great engineer to rush this one. Would the great engineer complete the wonder or will it
be partially completed?

From my experience, the Engineer will be able to complete the Taj. Not sure if it matters where we put it? Is there somewhere we would want some extra culture, and GPP?

Abt being too late for PS, I still maintain my argument that we have a grenedier that is going to come out in 4 turns. You will want to wait that long to switch to OR. So, switching to PS now does not delay anything. Of-course, its not a bg deal, since switching to PS means losing the benefits of representation (beakers boost etc etc). I just want to point out that fear of delaying other civics change is not a valid reason not to make the switch.

Take your pick eektor, we need both Combustion and Communism. :) EDIT: and we need Assembly Lines as well ... :lol:, we need EVERYTHING. :lol:

Ok, so I had company today, so I didn't get to play my turns til late. Now I am just too tired to do the writeup, but I played my turns. I'll do post the writeup tomorrow before GreyFox usually plays :)

I don't want to say any spoilers, so stay tuned. :D

Ok, so I had a little trouble with screenshots. I know I pressed the keys to do the screen shot but it wasn’t in the folder. I lost 3 good pics, so my report is going to look kind of dull. Sorry about that.

Turn 0: 1735 AD
Looked around start thinking about how to finish off JC. Decided to wait on Rome so I can bring a cannon and maceman from Neapolis and some other reinforcement from a French city.

Turn 1: 1740 AD
Pamplona: Workboat -> Culture (I want to expand the boundaries to get the fishes and uranium. Also, couldn’t use the Workboat til the culture expanded.)
Found a Chinese ship with Settlers. Uhoh.

View attachment 116080

Turn 2: 1745 AD
Traded Deer for Wine with the Chinese
Discovered Constitution. Researching Communism.
Barcelona: Bank -> Buddhist Stupa (We need some more happy faces here and +2 because Buddhism is our main religion is nice.)
Paris: Grenadier -> Market

Turn 3: 1750 AD
Seville: Rifleman -> Grocer
Toledo: Christian Temple -> Buddhist Stupa
Captured Circei and razed it. (A pic was supposed to go here. :( )
No!!!! Chinese city Kaifeng founded and in a bad place too. :aargh:

View attachment 116081

Turn 4: 1755 AD
Orleans: Grenadier -> Courthouse
I would have switched civics here but I decided to wait since Communism was coming up in less than 3 turns. (Maybe I should have done it instead and changed civics again 4 turns from now.)
My units are in place to attack Rome. Next turn should be fun. :ar15:

Turn 5: 1760 AD
JC sent 3 or 4 units against my stack and lost them all. I checked my stack at the beginning of the turn and none of the units were injured!
Rheims: Grocer -> Buddhist Stupa
Cunnae: Buddhist Temple -> Courthouse
Suicided a cat in Rome, then won each battle easily.
Captured Rome. (Lost this pic too. :hmm: )
Pamplona: Culture -> Lighthouse (It expanded and is using the fishes now.)

Turn 6: 1765 AD
Cordoba: ??? (I forgot) -> Buddhist Stupa
Santiago: Observatory -> University
Neapolis: -> Courthouse
Captured Pisae (Lost pic. :aargh: )
I apparently wasn’t thinking and kept this city. I’m really sorry about that. :wallbash: :wallbash:
Well JC is finished now. :beer:

Turn 7: 1770 AD
Communism -> Steam Power (required for assembly line and combustion, so GreyFox can go either way if you want.)
Mongols asked to cancel deals with China. (Yeah right. Not!)
Paris: Market -> Grocer
Valencia: Grocer -> Observatory

Toledo to start on Taj Mahal
Civics Change: Vassalage -> Free Speech
Free Market -> State Property
Theocracy -> OR

Turn 8: 1775 AD
Ravenna: Lighthouse -> Harbor

Turn 9: 1780 AD
Hurrian: Bank -> Drydock (Need some cities to get ready to build naval units.)

Turn 10: 1785 AD
Madrid: Courthouse -> Grocer (After Grocer should keep this city healthy again.)
Barcelona: Buddhist Stupa -> Drydock
Antium: Theatre -> Library
Seville: Grocer -> Theatre
Salamanca: Courthouse -> Harbor

(Oh wait, GreyFox wants some action. Let’s see … Declare war on Mongols and Japan. Ah what the heck let’s declare war on China and the Arabs too. :joke: )

After turn comments:

Well the good news is JC is destroyed and we have a whole continent to ourselves. Bad news is I kept a useless city and Chinese put a city on one of the island and a poor spot at that too.

I set the Taj Mahal to be built in Toledo. The Great Engineer is there and sleeping so you could complete it to start the GA in your turn GreyFox. Also, the we have a Great Scientist and Great Artist ready to be used for a GA if you want. We could use the Artist to help in our next war. I would suggest the Arabs first or maybe Japan using our little city on the continent as a base.

Great turns, eektor ... :goodjob: Nice call on delaying for State Property. Either way, we lose only 3 turns, but you could have build one more 2-turn units while waiting though ... make full use of theocracy and vassalage.

Yummy... you saved a golden age for me? Let's see what I can do with it ... :hammer::hammer:

As foreseen by countless many, I am UP on a builder's turn again. Got it, will play after playing my the other SG though ... so report should be up in a couple of hours.

You guys have until then to tell me what you want me to achieve .... so that I can gleefully ignore them and play as I wish :D :lol::rotfl::cooool:

-

Yea, I would personally declare war on everybody for the rest of the game :hammer:

Anyway, I'll be realistic now - way to FINISH OFF JC eektor!!

@GreyFox - I would recommend getting a settle to that other northern island, just to block China from another city. Other than that I wouldn't play builder too much, unless you feel we need it bad. Oh, the GA - like I said, have some fun with the builder turns :)

The good thing about going after Japan, is you can take all our excess offensive units, load them on Galleons, and send them to our beachhead. Do you think we can take Japan with cavalry and grenadiers? Or do we wait until infantry. The sooner the better I say...

We have a lot of obsolete units lying around in cities that can be upgraded. The units that have city raider 2 or 3 would be really nice if they were upgraded. Maybe we should go 100% gold to get some money for the upgrades. With city raider 2 or 3 rifleman and grenadiers we should be able to take out japan or the arabs no problem. For the next war we might need infantry. If we want calvary we need to do a small detour and get military tradition.

There is one galley ready to start transferring units to the beachhead. I used that to bring a grenadier because I was worried of the lone longbowman in that city. There is another galley with a worker that can head over there soon.

First off, great job finshing off the war!

I think we should beeline for infantry. I think by the time we get that we sould be able to mop up on either Japan or Arabia.

My vote is to go for Japan first, if only becuase we have Papalona on his continent to be used as a staging ground. Our ships can move troops in 1-2 turns from our mainland to Papa. I think a march through his lands will be easier than what we faced at the end of the war on JC.

Beelining for infantry is fine, but I wouldn't stop fighting until that point. I've found that contantly gaining land area is the fastest way to domination - stopping only to stabilize. After our GA is over (and our excess units at beachead and upgraded), I would switch civics and build units. Even if we don't have infantry, a well formed cavalry/gren/cannon army will probably be enough to take out Japan, as long as they don't have rifles yet...

Ah, AssLine require Corporation, so here we go:

and finally:

BTW, Combustion requires Rails as well, so I got it too (no screenie). Beauty of Golden Age :D

From the Colonization Agency

Settling happily in the northern island:
VQS-north-settler.jpg

Turn 272 (1804 AD) Vitoria founded

Turn 277 (1814 AD) Santander founded

Note to next Director of Agency: one more settler as shown in diagram for your disposal ... literally :D

Suggestion to next Director: may go to UniSuff to buy the necessary Work Boat, Lght House, etc....

From the Golden-Age Administrator

Turn 267 (1785 AD) Golden Age begins

Lots of drydocks and factories built.

Turn 275 (1810 AD) Golden Age ends

Suggestion to next Administrator: Since we are going for conquest/domination, I suggest triggering another GA, and build our infantry.

From the Smoking House

A few :smoke: in my turnset, sorry!

- Turn 268 (1790 AD) Pisae begins: Courthouse

Didn't realize we are in state property ... courthouse might be useless. I finally cancelled it.

But there is :smoke: from someones else:
- Why is Lyons building Grenadier? Without Barracks? :lol:

-

From the Busy-Body-Meddling-in-Others-Affair-Advisor

- I have started shifting millitary to Toku's island, I strongly suggest triggering the golden age to build infantry and destroyer (maybe, need to hook up oil though), and once GA ends, starts the :hammer:

- I have one more settler on our continent heading towards northern strip. I suggest building the city to brdige the west and east ocean.

- I think the pentagon is ready for building. Might wanna consider it.

- We have Railsroad, so start byuilding rails for lumbermills and mines. Give extra hammer.
