But be patient a bit. Lot of to do before. Keep going with 4UC and try to think about the reduction of the number of promotions.
Does a unit really need to have 2 or 3 custom promos? why not all in one.

Haha, Nope!
A few reasons for >1 different custom promotions:
  • represent different aspects of that unit's history
  • too much text/complexity for 1 promotion to convey
  • Conditional promotions added/removed, and placeholder promotions (ie. if a special effect only happens in enemy territory, etc.)
  • 1 unique aspect might stay on upgrade while the other is lost.
At any rate, I can at least start to compile a list of all the unique promotions, so you have them all in 1 place, along with the relevant history if you need ideas for the icons:

  • Iqawe (Zulu for "renowned Warrior", or "Hero" - bonus XP to stacked unit on expend, and Citadel damages all adjacent enemies immediately)
  • Ibutho (bonus XP to units stacked on InDuna)

that's a lot of work...
Shoshone promotions could be condensed into 1 promotion
German Slaganz promotions could conceivably be condensed, but it's 3 different effects so I'm reluctant.

We added human sacrifice dummy promo for aztec units. I saw that value of that aztec passive has changed in one of the recent updates? Was it updated in MUC?

Yeah, lotta work. Unfortunately like @pineappledan said there's not much room for simplification. Some of them have even now really unique picture f.e. Scythe so they can be saved for the end after common ones are done.

No change needed. The promotion just says "Gold and Faith on Kills"

Most importantly, the 32x32 icons have been improved one by one, pixel per pixel !

For those who found VPPI "awesome", "very impressive", "appealing" or whatever, feel happy because you're going to really see it now.

What was the changes from 9-6? I'm curious because I saw only 3 small tweaks?

I wonder if it is possible. Your new awesome icons are often not visible on units with many promotions. NEw ones are pushed out of the screen frame. Is it possible to make it visible somehow (two rows, smaller icons etc.)? We were talking that merging same promotion types would require some additional computer resources. But this would be only static graphical change. That was always bad about experienced units that their icon was placed over promotion icons.
 
What was the changes from 9-6?

New and reworked icons to fit VP(9-6) :
- Conscript _03#25 is a new one
- Parthian Tactics _03#30 is new (was generic vppi +2 moves.)
- Infiltrators unchanged.

A few icons reworked to be better at 32x32 :
- Ambush I/II, Precision I/II, Conscription _00#52, Brute Force, Trailblazer III.

Lightning Warfare _03#29 is new

  • VPPI will be dds icons files only and forever. ZERO resources needed.
  • I don't have the skills to write a such UI mechanism.
  • This is a amazing idea. it should have been written a long ago deep in the Civ5 core ...
  • After all it may not be such a good idea. VP + EUI + modmodmodmods is big enough imo

In left corner you have unit ui pannel with long list of unit icons starting from right to left and at some point they get under the big unit icon and cannot be checked, hovered and are barely visible.

But It is not my business I'm afraid. It should have been addressed a long ago deep in the Civ5 core ...
 
Yup, if @Infixo was present maybe he could do something with that right in VP. He did awesome job with EUI updates recently.

If you saw my mod list your jaw would hit the ground. :] I really struggle with performance sometimes. That's why we work on MUCfVP v37 where performance of buildings for now is our priority.
 
With VP(9-15) some promotion changes are introduced.

I have to draw new icons for new promos Swift Strike I-III
Busy with RL, I can't do it now. Fortunately, VPPI includes customizable icons (see bonus_VPPI_icons.jpg)

Let's use 3 of them to have 3 unique icons to Swift Strike I-III. The name of promotions are PROMOTION_COASTAL_RAIDER_1, PROMOTION_COASTAL_RAIDER_2 and PROMOTION_COASTAL_RAIDER_3

The job is done in the file below:

Copy (and replace) it in \VP Promo Icons (v 1.6)\sql\
