Wal-Mart Shoppers?

Every time I go to Walmart I'm always amazed by the number of morbidly obese people I see there. It seems like maybe 1/5 of the people there weighs 300 pounds.

I can't believe anyone would boycott walmart over the Mexican flag thing. I thought Turkey was the most hyper-nationalist country I've been to but my home country is further up there than I thought.

Theres a great website that will give you hours beyond hours of entertainment mocking wal-mart shoppers across the United States (if you dont resemble anyone in these pictures that is). peopleofwalmart.com

Here in the Upper Midwest, you can actually do a fair amount of grocery shopping at Menards. Menards stores are seemingly turning away from just home building products and into a general merchandise store; their justification is that they can make the same profit on a $2 bag of candy than they can on a giant piece of lumber that occupies 1/50th the space.

Hell yeah! Menards has a brand of couscous I can't find anywhere else. Also delicious candy that I thought stopped existing a long time ago.

Their book selection is god awful.

I have managed to find some 'greatest hits' kind of CDs there that I wasnt able to find anywhere else in town. But mostly I just use Amazon for that stuff.

My wife buys her workout clothes from there as she says they have the absolute best value on sports bras and stuff and they fit good/comfortable. Only thing she will buy there.

You don't live in Princeton anymore, I take it.

Well, I compared the prices to the corner store here in Minneapolis.

Notebooks: $.15 at Wal-Mart, $1.39 at corner store.
Pencils: $.50 at Wal-Mart, $2.29 at corner store

That's $7.99 in pre-tax savings... you're paying about 6 times as much at the corner store and I can guarantee you that the corner store does not pay its employees 6 times as much as Wal-Mart pays theirs (at least $48/hr?)

You love your straw man arguments, eh? Jesus, you made a goddamn scarecrow with that statement.

@OP: The school stuff is amazing there. Got all my stuff for like 60 bucks, compared to the 100+ the year before that. And I needed more stuff this year. Amazing stuff there.

Food though my family goes to Kroger, which is a lot closer, and from what I can tell, at least here, around the same prices if you get the Members Card at Krogers. There is also a beast Asian Supermarket chain in my state, which is where we go every month or so. Far away thou, which really sucks. I get clothes from wherever, and Best Buy/Target for electronics, although Target more for games and other stuff than pure electronics.

Well, 1/3 of Americans are obese to start...

They must all congregate in wal-marts then. Ive been working at home depot for 3 years and i dont see quite as many fat people as i do if i walk into a walmart.

I guess the people that shop at home depot probably are more active? In my area generally people arent as fat but if you go down to texas or the midwest theres alot of fatties.

Yeah I've seen people of Walmart, pretty funny but kinda gross sometimes. I see people like that all the time at Walmart, usually not anything too bizarre, but more along the lines of -- someone that fat shouldn't have a bare midriff and shouldn't wear daisy dukes. Or, a woman that size shouldn't wear anything backless.

Walmart's book selection is terrible of course but it's not really known as a bookstore.

On the patriotism issue, sure it's nice to support your country but don't go overboard. Protesting cause they fly the Mexican flag and not the US one is just stupid. Who cares???

Seriously.

OH MY GOD, A STORE DOESN'T SHARE MY JINGOIST VIEWS, BOYCOTT THEM!!!

AMERICA, AMERICA, UBER ALLES!

Apparently he does and he is hardly stupid. So get off his back about it.

I for one think it rather admirable to act on what you believe in.

Well, 1/3 of Americans are obese to start...

The majority of Canadians are obese as well. Actually from charts I've seen you don't have to be so huge to be obese. What amazes me are the number of absolutely gigantic people I see at Walmart. I'm not talking about just pudgy but HUGE.

Protesting wal-mart because of some stupid mexican flag issue really is dumb.

But boy-cotting them because they destroy small businesses and force manufacturing companies to transfer american jobs overseas is worth it.

You know, Ladanian Tomlinson is considered obese. The man is an NFL running back with under 10% body fat.

Obese scales are flawed. They do not factor in weight from muscle.

I find it embarrassing as an American that people are so ultra nationalist. I'm not saying he's stupid but this issue is pretty lame.

I agree about the obesity thing. Lots of people who I don't find to be that fat are obese by these charts.

You love your straw man arguments, eh? Jesus, you made a goddamn scarecrow with that statement.
What part about it was a straw man? You said you'd shop at a mom and pop shop and I compared the prices between the two stores I was at today. Maybe mom and pop shops in Florida aren't grossly overpriced with limited selections, but they are here.

Forget flags. The Wal-Mart in my town actually allows Mexicans to come into the store. Needless to say I try not spend too much time there.

Oh god man, do not seriously try to play down what you wrote. The thing about mom and pop stores should pay their employees 42 dollars an hour because of their prices? LMFAO

C'mon man, seriously. Don't play dumb.

Well you cant honestly expect a big business like wal-mart to refuse service based on nationality can you? Or do you want them to check peoples immigration status on entry into the store?

What do you have against the hispanics in your area?
