Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.0

:) It's all good with me.
The compromise on the navals is cool.
Thanx for the ups on arials. I didn't know.
As for th 75 turns for a giant..
I test play all the mods with the powerbar 1st. It's gives me a chance to check for bugs and test gameplay quickly. Maybe that's why it took so long to create giants. (shrug)
A wheeled transport unit for dwarves would be real cool. Maybe there's a unit already made that you can just rename and incorporate. "The humvee in DYP for example"
Anyway, your doing just fine. don't let my complaints make a good thing bad. I liked it without the changes.

BTW. do you know where I could find the thread on fatal bombardments?
I'd like to see the pros and cons presented.

One last thing.
Have any of you really popular and talented designers ever considered doing a collaboration?
Many of you excell in particular areas. Unit creation, map making, storylines, technicals ect..
Picture the outcome of such an endeavor. I bet that would be the best mod ever made. Probably outshining the original itself.

About making the "air units" more air like. You could give them the paradrop ability like paratroopers have and then they can paradrop over certain distances and small bodies of water. That can mimck flying over water. The DyP did this with their Air Cavalry and it worked fine.
I agree with the non-lethal land bombardment. It's more realistic that a catapult slams an army and it has to return to town to regroup. Kinda like routing an army. They get knocked down to 1 hp and no one in their right mind would use it to attack not even the AI. Routed, regroup, attack again.
I think the idea of adding more transport capacity and movement to ships is a great idea. I had already done this with your mod. Mostly because I increased the size of your random map. A 360x360 world takes a while to sail around.;)

Lord of the Mods

Here is one that several are working on. I think I have counted 2 or 30 unit makers and some other artists working on city graphix, tech trees and so on.
Sorry for spamming embryo. :nospam:

The collab thread looks promising.
My opinion though is that the LOTR thing is way overdone. We need something with more of a growth ability. A mod people can constantly add on and update. There is only one format I know of that fits that bill. D&D and all it's offshoots.
Civilizations would include
Dwarves
Elves
halflings, Kender
Gnomes
Humans
Orcs
All of the subraces like
Dark Elves
And the evil races as well.
Ogres
Giants
Illithids

Most of the footwork is done if you know anything about D&D.
Most of the units have already been created and are posted right here.

Does anyone agree with me that we really need a Collab on a D&D mod?

I have downloaded probably every unit that was ever made, and no there is no such transport, also there is no sense in making ground transport (technically) because it doesn't work for AI (Humvee in DyP isn't a transport eighter). Dwarven army is obvious to me: slow but strong and courageous, with backup of the most powerful war machines.

I sincerely hope that complains will improve the mod :)

In general discussions forums, but just type "lethal" in topic search, you'll find exact threads. Those with most insults are usually the most interesting ;)

One person that makes the mod, supported by some people, can actually make something, as you can see by looking at available mods. Most collaborations ended with endless chatter ;) (LotR mod is quite special case, since the world is very strict and so are many of its fans. It would not have satisfying background if made by one person)

Occasional collaborations happen very often and are very good thing. Someone requests something, someone helps, or mod evolves after pages of discussions. That's the best way it seems. Group planning and sharing of tasks have lead projects to be abandoned already.

I don't like D&D too much. It has some unique worlds, but not the ones close to classical fantasy we are speaking of. Sure it's monstrous but it's also a big container in which they threw everything they could (D&D bestiaries were always very entertaining ;) ) And the worst fantasy novels ever take place in D&D world! :p But that was just personal opinion :D... though imagine that I feel in danger when comments about my mod end up in idea to create a new mod with different world and setup :suicide:

Nope!

 I love D&D and I am working on a mod (as my sig says), but I'm not asking for any advice or ideas at the moment. Mostly because it will be for Conquests. Maybe I'll start a thread so we can get off embryo's thread and stop spamming it up with unrelated material.:p :nospam:

great mod. ive played it with several civs and i really like it. however for some reason, i couldnt put vampires or vampire lords onto transport ships. anyone else had this problem? thanks

Yeah, that's because they're spellcasters (so they're transporters themselves). Now that I think of it, I should remove spellcasting ability from vampires since they're the main sylvanian unit. I'll post a small patch today, with all issues reported and some discussed changes.

1.01 patch has been released (see the 1st post). It fixes all reported issues and makes some of the discussed changes.
ps. The Great Bazaar is still there :)

Dunno if it has been reportet already, but it is possible to chop down swamp and forest. You just use the "clear all jungle/forest" buttom.

That's one of the "hacks" that happen to some modding unfortunately (ie. with CTRL+U you could upgrade units that have upgrading disabled, I don't know if they fixed this or not). I'd say Civ3 bugs, since they put a possibility to turn something off in the editor and then it turns out it doesn't work fully. AFAIK there is no way to prevent it, so you are just asked not to cheat ;) (fortunately AI doesn't).

Well lets hope Conquest will fix it:)

Awsome:goodjob:

Hey, first time poster. Don't hate the n00b. Anyways, great mod you got here. :D I suck at it, but that's coz I sucked at civ3 to begin with!!! :p One question, I researched Arcane Magic to get Firestorm... how do I build it??? Do I need any certain pre-requisites, coz it doesn't say anything in the civlopedia. And maybe I'm just being really stupid. I just wanted to build them to wipe out the bloody wood elves. *grumbles* Do I have to build the Warpstorm wonder first? Wait... that would make sense... Sorry about the stupid post.

Love the mod to bits! Every god damn unit is fantastic, all the work you put into it is bloody brilliant. I'd been searching for a fantasy themed mod for ages, and I think yours takes the cake, icing, and most of the party. Keep up the INCREDIBLE work.

As for your problem: well, you have answered yourself already :) It's exactly like that (the info is actually in warpstorm's civilopedia)

I am having a blast with this game. Are you going to upgrade a version for C3C or just keep it on PTW? Can't give you enough .

Just a quick question:

Why can't the Chaos build skeletal minions?

@tjedge1
I'm going to make completly new version for C3C, though this one will be updated with new units etc. for the people that are waiting/saving up for C3C :)

@Raw is War?
Chaos has nothing to do with the undead. Chaos = demons, beasts and chaos worshippers. Undead are raised by necromancers, liches, mummies, vampire lords etc.
