Warhammer unit request: Chaos Dwarfs & Hobgoblins

Aaglo:

I think the model looks great. The red eyes should look really good even at CIV size. Have you considered a death graphic of the wolf throwing the rider and running away?

While I am it, how about a victory graphic of the wolf chewing or throwing flesh/bone away?

My only other comment is that the back legs of the wolf look more human-like than animal-like. That's fine, since I would read into the wolf rider being more lycanthropish than its wild cousin.

Excellent work. I look forward to the final unit.

ok for one the teeth look no where near bunny rabbit type, they're perfect. Also as for the hammerer, the one posted looks more like a mod warlord than a hammerer :p but as an addition to the game it might be worth some looking into :)

Thanks! I'm nearly finished making all the animations for this unit (all except death flc are done, but the death animation sequence is calculated and ready for animations). All that remains after that are the sounds.

Unfortunately the death animation isn't what you suggested - the wolf dies too after throwing the rider :( (<- that sad smiley is for the poor wolfie)

And the victory doesn't include any 'bone-chewing' from the wolf - he just chews some air. It's not a scavenger afterall :mischief:

Yep, they are a bit human-like, but at the moment it's the best I can do  - I'll try to be more precise in the future :)

The E.T.A. of this unit (hopefully, if my girlfriend let's me  ) is within 10 hours. Here's a preview of the civilopedia.

Anything you deliver will greatfully be appreciated by all. Given my total lack of artistic ability, its easy for me to suggest impossible (or at the very least extremely difficult things). ;)

Believe me, a very high percentage of scenarios / mods wouldn't be anywhere near as good without your artistic creations.

Spend time with the girlfriend, after all, this is a game, while the time you spend with her is real life. (Just like CIV, its all about the balance).....

Kindest regards

Nicely said Misfit_travel :)

Looks greats:goodjob:

Well who cares if Chaos Dwarfs hammerers exist. The point is we need a Chaos Dwarf with a hammer to fill out the gap. ED uses a hammer unit as the first era spearman replacement for the dwarfs. I think it would be best to keep with that idea.

I don't know that I would see Chaos Dwarves as having a hammer unit. A big spikey mace, perhaps, but the CDs seem to be the type of creatures that want sharp edged weapons to cleave their foes in two, rather than just a heavy hammer. Hopefully a two-handed axeman will materialize for them in the future.

Also, a while ago I think someone made a comment about no new CD units being made in the last few years. This isn't true. In the recent Warhammer campaign Storm of Chaos, there were CD units made to man the Hellcannons of Chaos. They had braided beards and it looked like braided hair, all sticking out from beneath a silver skull mask that they wore. Were I on my normal computer, I would be able to find the pic and attach it here, but I'm on break at home. Anyways, there is a more modern look to Chaos Dwarves out there, though I'm not certain if Warhammer meant the skull-mask look for all potential future Chaos Dwarves, or just the ones manning the Hellcannons.

You wouldn't be talking about these dudes?

Well, they look a bit like chaos dwarfs for sure...

Well that would make a super unit too:yeah:QUOTE]

I second this...they would be just to cool to see running around a C3C map.

I hope aaglo (or 1 of the other unit designers) can make these.

Great looking dwarfs!!! Any chance that, if you make that, you could make it or another version with an axe or hammer or other relatively normal dwarvish weapon and few or no spiky chaotic bits as that would fill an excellent gap in LOTM. (A first age dwarvish warrior from the Silamarillioin)

yup, those dudes. :)

Hi,
I wanted to try something like this: a bull centaur. This is an early preview, so I won't promise anything fancy for this unit - besides when kinboat does his version, I'll be humbled and put back where I belong  (and I also asked him if he could do a bull-centaur with a 2-hand weapon)

Well, here's the preview with some questions:
- what should I do to the hat? It looks a bit like it could be a sorceror, but... a pic in the 1st page has a bull centaur with such hat (and axe and shield)
- what if I changed the axe into something else: hammer, sword or a spear? Would that be completely out of character? I think it would bring some variation to the chaos dwarf units, since all of them melee-artists so far - (save the unfinished chaos dwarf by kinboat) - have an axe.
- colouring, colouring, colouring and colouring?
- should I add big teeth to the mouth of the bull-centaur (like there are in some pics)?

Ok, here's the pic

@aaglo- you could alway try giving them pole axes, like a halberd- as while its not a huge variation from the axe, its still somthign different- though I dont think a hlaberd would look good with this guy, who, by the way, looks marvelous- youve gone from the master of the ship yard to the king of the chaos mountain ;)

Oh, yes, one more question concerning bull centaurs:
- size? Slightly smaller than the civ3-horseman -unit?

PS. I'll make the hobgoblin wolf archer before I start hammering on this unit. :)

I think its a fine size as what it is- but I've never been close enough to a bull to know how big it is comapared to a horse.

also, awesome to know your going to make the wolf archer! :D

I would suggest that the bull body be slightly smaller (proportionately) but much stockier in terms of leg / shoulder than the CIV3 horseman. That should create a subtle artistic difference in game when viewed against each other (or more likely fighting each other).
