TURN 4- 1513

Updates:

WARATH (a.k.a. where the elves, humans, goblins and dwarves are):

GENERAL NEWS :

Tarakfal soon gives out knowledge of it’s technology to most of the anti-goblin alliance. This will greatly improve the chances for success.

Coren attempts to colonize the lands spotted by explorers from long ago located west of the island of Hragen. The colonists re skeptical and after receiving little supplies from unwelcoming Illorian ports, the colonists decide to settle on Hragen. This is difficult for the orcs to maintain and they will need a much better ship in order to manage it.

Also on the island, Davanian colonists are able to slowly expand, but without a military presence they can not do it rapidly.

In an amazing turn of events, the Catalians have purchased armor from the Imperial Orcs. The orcs have used this to increase their military and economic power and further increase their influence over the region. The Imperial Orcs have now put armor up for sale for anyone.

DAVANIAN FRONT:

With the Illorians tied up in the south by the goblins, the Dwarves send a large force after the invading force of 1300 warriors, 450 raiders and 1350 elven archers. A total of 3100. This force had been running low on supplies for days as they made their way back to the front through Dwarven lands. The Dwarven army led by the king himself sets itself against the Elves. With only half his army, the king still outnumbers the elves almost 2-1 with 2500 Dwarven warriors, 1100 archers, 1000 raiders and 500 horsemen a total of 5100.

The Battle took place far from any protective forests for the elves to hide in. The Dwarves struck quickly against the prepared Elves. Hoping to utilize their archers at the best, the elves position themselves on the high ground. The elven archers rain arrows against the approaching army. Hundreds die before the Dwarves launch their charge. With a spearhead of 50 horsemen, the Dwarves break through the initial defenses of the Elven force. Raiders soon follow and the Elven line is shattered into two. The Elves begin to retreat under the cover of arrows. The Dwarven horsemen track down and kill many fleeing elves. The elves do escape however.

Na-Fonar: -50 horsemen, -150 raiders, -700 dwarven warriors
Davania: -100 elven Archers, -200 raiders, -500 warriors

The general now ordering a retreat through Catalia is rudely surprised to see Catalian troops waiting at the border. Now trapped inside a small forest, with little food left the army will be forced to starve to death if it cannot be reached or get back to safety.

The Dwarven King then turned west to face the Davanian army threatening from there. Facing an army of only 2500 this time, the Dwarven king seemed smug about victory. He was right, it came easily. The Dwarves quickly forced the Elves to retreat and have stabilized the front. After being questioned by the king, the general in charge replied “I just guess we didn’t have enough tactics'n'stuff to win.”

Na-Fonar: - 500 dwarven warriors, -350 raiders
Davania: -300 elven archers, -200 warriors, -100 raiders

ILLORIAN FRONT:

The Illorians brace for an attack on both sides and create forts at strategic positions across the two fronts with the Dwarves and Goblins. This comes in handy when the Goblins attack the city once again. This time with 1500 raiders, the goblins hope to take a city still protected by 1725 Ilorian archers and 1250 warriors. Three forts located outside the town become vital points of strategic interest to the goblins. Without taking them any siege will become impossible. Upon seeing themselves as outnumbered and outmaneuvered the goblins begin a frantic retreat dropping many valuable gold and gems as they retreat. When the Elves give chase to the goblins and to get some of the booty, they are surprised to find booby traps everywhere. Hundreds are killed or maimed by pits or traps of any kind. Within a few hours the survivors start to have rashes appear across their body. The jewelry that was dropped was laced with poison. Hundreds more die. With nearly 700 dead or incapacitated, the goblins launch their attack. They overwhelm the weakened and besiege the city. Illorian reinforcements are involved with another battle at the time. Once more the Dwarves pose a problem to securing the eastern front.

Illoria: -600 Warriors, -250 Illorian Archers
Lost Tribe: -200 Raiders

Illoria sends it’s entire army outside the city to go relieve the city, but they are met with a Dwarven force. The Illorians however retreat to the nearby strongholds of Galonar and Dalonar located on two hills less than a km apart. They are named after the twin warriors of ancient legend that became the kings of Illoria. With these strongholds, the Illorian force of 1500 hopes to stand out against a Dwarven force of 4000. For three days and nights the Dwarves continue to attack the forts and relentlessly. When the Dwarves move in for their final move against the now crumbling forts, a storm moves through the area destroying the Dwarven supplies and scaring away many of the horses. Spooked by the sudden onslaught of a terrible storm, the Dwarves retreat and the two forts hold.

Na-Fonar: -20 horsemen, -375 raiders, - 675 dwarven warriors, -88 archers
Illoria: -125 raiders, -75 Illorian Archers, -100 warriors

Not long afterwards the system of forts that span across the nation is completed created using the remaining Illorian funds. With 8 main strongholds like that of Galonar & Dalonar, as well as several dozen smaller forts helping protect the gaps. Illoria hopes to contain what has threatened the nation so much.

AMORFAL FRONT:

Before the Skaven have an opportunity to arrive, the battles are fought between goblins and humans for dominance.

The first battle is fought between the forces of tarakfal and the Goblins. As the goblins advance against the tarakfal army. 4150 Goblin Raiders attack the defending entire Tarakfal army of 6000 consisting of 2100 warriors, 1050 archers, 1650 raiders and 1200 human horsemen. Although outnumbered, the ravaging goblins were still a more powerful force. Tactics could make or break this battle for either side. The tarakfal army however was unaware it was in for aa battle.

The goblins attacked directly at first light, just as the tarakfal army was beginning to get on the move again. When scouts didn’t return back the night before the general knew something was up and tripled the camp guard. This was not enough for when the goblins quickly attacked they overwhelmed the defenders. The camp became a bloodbath. The Tarakfal army was strewn upon the pikes of Goblin raiders. The general’s head was passed around in a game of balgog which normally uses a ball made from pig skin. Still more than three quarters of the human army managed to escape and as such will I’ve to fight again. They are however demoralized and without good leadership and do not launch a counter attack later.

Tarakfal:-500 warriors, -250 archers, -400 raiders, -100 human horsemen
The Lost Tribe:-400 goblin raiders

The goblins then begin to harass the Amorfal troops who continue to deny the Goblins a battle Only a few hundred are dead on both sides, but with Amorfal reluctance to fight, much land is gained by the goblins. Militias prove to be the largest opposition to the goblin presence as over 2000 farmers which were called upon by the king begin to strike against the goblins. This has caused little damage however. The largest incident was when 9 goblin soldiers were killed while barging in drunk into a militia house.

Amorfal: -150 warriors
The lost Tribe: -50 goblin raiders

Finally the Skaven arrive. With Dolori and Islandi forces arriving under their own ship power and with the other 3 nations excluding Majori arriving in Tarakfal ships. The landing is successful as all troops land on the shores of The Lost Tribe. The huge Islandi fleet is given the okay by Tarakfal ships to head back to port. As soon as they are out of sight, the battle begins. Fighting can be seen on the 10 tarakfal ships. The Skaven troops from land watch as humans are tossed overboard. Suddenly the Minori, Allori and Fanafar troops attack the Islandi and Dolori troops. It is a slaughter. With no where to go the anti-goblin skaven armies scatter into the wilderness never to be heard from again. Meanwhile the pro-goblin skaven armies begin to march up north to help the goblins as a war rages at home.

Islandi: -1500 Skaven Warriors, -750 archers, -600 raiders
Dolori: -2500 Skaven Warriors, -500 archers, -300 raiders
Fanafar: -750 skaven warriors, -250 archers
Allori: -500 skaven warriors, -250 archers
Minori: -1000 Skaven warriors, -250 archers

In the final blow to the anti-goblin alliance, the loss of the southern Amorfal lands has finally taken a hit on Amorfal economy. Amorfal has lost 1 gold per turn.

TARAKFAL FRONT

bad news is up for Tarakfal. Duke Francis of the province of Glocia has demanded more power. He sees himself as the rightful ruler of Tarakfal and has even created a fake family tree of his going back to the second dynasty of Tarakfal kings 800 years ago. The masses quickly buy into it. He gains much support and amasses an army. Duke Leopold of Denapar to his south is worried of civil war. He has amassed his own army in case of an attack. Francis has seen this as a direct threat to his right to rule Glocia. As such he has declared Duke Leopold as his enemy and plans to destroy him.

This is also a direct threat to the king and the war against the goblins. Any war at home will not make good war aborad. The king needs to act fast to stop this from escalating.

MANFIA (a.k.a where the orcs, goblins and skaven are):

SKAVEN:

Majori, Islandi and Dolori Skavi all join forces with the anti-goblin alliance in return for technology. They begin to build fleets and send young soldiers off to die...except for Majori Skavi. Majori Skavi seems prepared to erupt into a civil war. One good thing though, with the return of a port city the Majori economy has improved.

The Islandi Skavi wanting to protect their trade now posses the largest fleet in the world.

Treachery! Allori, Minori and Fanafar Skavi who also pledged their allegiance to the Anti-Goblin alliance, soon launch an attack on the Skaven in Warath and against Amorfal. It appears the alliance has been tricked.

With this the Majori Skavi who didn’t send their armies over seas launches an attack on Minori Skavi crippling them with their new weapons. With the power of invention on their side the Major Skavi have developed the crossbow, a deadly new weapon. Using it to full potential, the Majori strike fast and quick. Minori with 3/4 of it’s army overseas is caught off guard. The Minori forces retreat to the safety of city walls as Majori close in.

Majori has also attacked Allori which has even less of an army. With the capital now besieged and the Majori in control of catapults could this small nation be lost after hundred of years of independence?

ORCS:

The Imperial orcs sell armor to Catalia and offer it up for sale to anyone. This comes when a new Emperor takes the throne from the last one. The new Emperor has given the idea that the Imperial orcs should play the largest role in the orc alliance and as such it should be the most powerful.

Coren finished the new port city of Quadesh. The city hold much trade and is viewed as the best port in the world. Trade however is little as most imports and exports go to fellow Orc nations via land. The port is sight to the largest docks in Manfia and home to the Coren fleet. The port has given people the ability to explore on their own and private explorers have mapped out large areas of seas and have discovered a new island.
Effects: Sudden exploration boost, +40 galleys .

The Nanmar port is also completed and although not as large or advanced as the Coren port, it sees far more trade. Illorian and Davanian reach the ports and a large boost in trade has occurred. Effect: +1 gold per turn

The Imperial Orcs begin a grand exploration of the east using a new fleet. They discover new lands and quickly set up a string of colonies along good port areas. The entire continent has now been explored in the round and many believe that this is the only land mass in the world, with smaller islands all around the place.

The Finif Orcs wage war on Tribus Goblin! Hoping for a quick victory they are rudely shocked to see a large goblin army waiting for them. Also hoping were orc allies that never showed. The generals also instructed to attack from the north. Without proper maps and such the army attempts to move through the forest to the north. They then come back out months later bewildered and with half of them dead. Small goblin outposts in the forest alert the nation proper and they raise an army the size of which hasn’t been seen by these goblins since the last goblin-orc war over 200 years ago. There’s another fault in the Orc plan as the Pal orders the horsemen to attack Imperial Orc troops. There are no Imperial orc troops anywhere, so the horsemen return home with another quarter dying on the way.

Finally the army of about 1500 launch an attack on the Goblins. Located behind the cover of a hill, the main goblin army lies in wait and strikes as the orcs press against a small skirmishing force of 500. What comes from the hill is the entire Goblin army of 7500 soldiers. The orc army is completely destroyed as it surrenders on the retreat. The Goblins suffer minimal casualties as soldiers began to run almost immediately when they saw an army.

With the Finif army destroyed, the goblins invade Finif lands with their entire army. Meeting little resistence they have spread far fast. They have been forced to besiege the 2 nearby cities and have continued on to the forests.

STORY:

In Majori Skavi, the King hears the news that the land has been returned from tarakfal, glorious news! Part of the contract was the land would be signed over to the king himself in return for war with the Goblins. He also received siege weapon technology and naval warfare technology. Using this along with the great thinkers in his nation, the king’s thinkers came up with something incredible. Attributed to Domman of Gaffo, the crossbow is the most powerful hand held weapon to date. Although not as long range as the normal bow, or as fast firing, the crossbow makes up in it’s simplicity. With as little as a week of training, a crossbow man could be deadlier than an archer. With this also came great defensive value. The crossbow has quickly became a main weapon in the Majori arsenal.

The king of Majori has also been pressing for more political power. Using the royal coffers, the king has bought large tracks of land across the nation from the ruling merchant class nearly bankrupting him. He has also used his money to gain the allegiance of the new crossbow corps and the rights to the weapon. With this he planned to launch a civil war on the merchants and gain complete control. This was not to be when the Minori and Allori declared war against Majori’s allies,. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to gain more power, the king personally left to oversee the war to gain prestige and the trust of the army.

I need to say one thing F**K. Damn rat men. No more transport for you you sneaky little gits. Now how am i going to deal with these lords...

You said my eocnomy will grow from expansion? So why it grown only from my money? :S

There’s another fault in the Orc plan as the Pal orders the horsemen to attack Imperial Orc troops. There are no Imperial orc troops anywhere, so the horsemen return home with another quarter dying on the way.

WHAT THE...

(Hooo, I see he went with my second (rather passive) orders - not my third. Oh well, things WERE getting messy. Hmmm)

It's time to kick ass allies. We need to end this war quickly... Let us spend our money on a massive army (i.e. stop messing about with your economies!).
For crying out loud allies, the goblino economy is stretched to the limit, whilst Illoria - you guys are almost LOSING. 7 vs. 5
If we apply our economy we should win.

Diplomacy to the Goblins from Amorfal

We're all falling behind in economy. Goblin economic failure in this campaign is close to occuring. Pull out of Amorfal lands and we will spare your country.
------

To Pro-Goblin Alliance from Amorfal

SPEND.
MONEY.
Now preferably.
This means Davania and Illora, me being a soldierking don't really understand why the elves are having problems with a small goblin incursion and the full attention of the dwarves (well maybe the last... but still, it's just a matter of time - as long as the Skavi don't mess things up) before you start making incursions upon their land.
Soo... get out of the defensive positions and start ATTACKING!

(oc: stories should help, I didn't really mean to up my economy and avoid battle, but at least the 2000 free warriors and extra gold this turn (negating the loss to my income) make up for the most of it.) The sucky gobbos only make 6 per turn... no eco. development for the last couple of year (i.e. read: beginning of turns). As long as the Catalians don't start STABBING us actively in the back (though it wouldn't surprise me) we should be fine.

OOC: Told you it would not be that easy. Fools, never take an enemy or an ally for granted, it will lead you to ruin.

To Amorfal
From the Golblins

*Middle Finger*

7 gold to economy. This turn I'll get last turn's increase applied, and I'll get this turn's increase applied next turn, unless Warman decides to screw me oer again with a strange rule.
1 gld on Warriors and 1 gold on Footmen, to attack on the border with na-Fonar. The troops in the forest to the east are to fortify in the FOREST. They are ELVES, fighting DWARVES, in a FOREST.

John the First, Soldierking of Amorfal issues a proclamation
-----------------------------------
"All elves fight defensive wars or are otherwise wussified. The reason we are losing is because nations like Davania has an army roughly four times as small as the dwarven nation. I predict that in two year's time the dwarven army will be ten times as large as the Davanian and their imminent massed attack will deal a serious blow to Davanian economy.

I ignore your proclamation loudly. I'll be buying 5000 warriors a turn shortly. Minor setback.

The elves aren't pulling their weight in this alliance. That's all... We'll be seeing about minor setback when the dwarves invade with 15000 warriors and you stand there with 10% of his force. Sneaking around in the night won't help very much then.

Warman what happened with my colonists that were sent to that land in the upper right corner of the map?!?!

You said my eocnomy will grow from expansion? So why it grown only from my money? :S

WHAT THE...

Here were your orders

Use 7PP's to grow economy +1
Invade Goblins from the north with 850 Horsemen, All Warriors All Raiders and 250 Archers. Use Horsemen fast movement ability to it's full by attacking again and again Imperial Orc troops and running away. Invade them badly! Take spoils of war!
Continue to expand into the mountains and Plains with rest of horsemen.
Rest of Archers defend.

You know Amorfal you may be right.

To Amorfal
From Tarakfal

The time of Naval invasions has ended we are getting the hell out of here.

Well our boats will be, our armies will still march to their deaths against the Goblins unless these two twits decide to revolt. Then i shall crush them and then try and make it back to help you out. I shall find a new land and there i shall settle and grow large and fat. Just in case this war does not go well. I believe you should consider this option as well. It may be time for an Exodus. But not before we spill much blood of course

Orders soon.

If you are such a bad and mean enough person to not understand that I made a mistake than I have no room in a NES with such a person.

Goodbye.

To Imperial Orcs
From Tarakfal:

We shall buy Armor off you for 5 gold.
Or if you wish in exchange for Siege Weapons.

Please answer with your preferance so we may take it into account.
