TURN 3- 1511

WARATH (a.k.a. where the elves, humans, goblins and dwarves are):
Illoria begins construction of a Great Wall to keep out invaders. The large construction is hard due to the forests and the gold going into it is hardly worth it. And plans to do it outside of the forests are fruitless as a war is going on as to where it will be built. The plan is scrapped the gold is refunded back into the coffers of Illoria.
Reaching into the pocket of her coffers, Amorfal begins to build a large army. Under the command of the Kings first son Prince Herald, the new army rivals that of the Goblins in size but many doubt Harolds ability to use it against the Goblins. The King tries to build catapults but with out siege technology the money is kept in the coffers.
Considering the king of Catalia was the only one to write a story his proud people are happy to join up with the military. 1000 peasants and farmers take up arms and join the military. (+1000 warriors)
The Illorian colony is returned by Amorfal as Amorfal needs an ally not an enemy.
DAVANIAN FRONT:
News of the war first comes in from Davania. The military there is quick to act against the Dwarven raids. By the time the troops arrive though, the Dwarven force had increased by an extra 125 horsemen. Still, the Elves pushed on with their plans. The Dwarven horsemen without support could not defeat the whole of the Davanian army. As raiders cut the horses supplies while warriors and archers attack the raiding parties. The raiders are unable to cut the horsemen off completely and they retreat.
Na-Fonar is invaded now by 3500 troops traveling through Catalian land. They hope to hit Na-Fonar from the rear then link up with troops on the front. Catalian generals do not act upon this infraction but quickly raid the supply lines halting movement of food to the Davanian troops. The Davanian troops must now fend for themselves as they try to make it back to the frontlines.
ILLORIAN FRONT:
The Illorians must first defeat the Dwarves who pose the problem of stopping any force heading to fight the Goblins. The illorians do so by attacking the Dwarven rear. Rather than face a battle in open fields the Elves go into the mountains. The Dwarves see this as an easy victory now. As they approach the Elves boulders rain down from above as the passes are blocked and hundreds lay dead or trapped underneath. The Illorians however are outnumbered and outmatched I n this environment and when they attempt to meet the rest of the force as they climb over the boulders they are soundly defeated. The Elves did however force the Dwarves to retreat allowing their other forces to meet the goblins.
An Eleven force of 2500 now meets up with local militia (500 free warriors
) at the city as the goblins close in. With orders to find a place to easily defend, the commander orders the archers and warriors to defend the walls of the city. The Goblins send a contingent of only 1000 troops to conquer the city not knowing what waits inside. Inside is about 1750 Illorian archers and 1250 warriors. The walls hold with minimal damage as Illoria takes light damage. The expert archers are able to do great harm to the attacking goblins as they retreat not even bothering to besiege the city. Another 1000 raiders go unchallenged in the north as they rampage on their way to meet the dwarves.
AMORFAL FRONT:
Tarakfal sends 1500 raiders to try and flank the Goblins through the mountains as their main army marches against the Goblins. Their plan runs amuck when they find 1975 goblin raiders marching towards them. The two forces press against each other. They meet at a field near the stream Cracy. The humans hold the upper hand at first when the goblin center begins to crack, but the efforts of one Goblin known now as The Hero of Cracy to the goblins, he allies the center together as he shouts out immortalized words Try and take me! he says this as three humans surround him. After striking each of them the nearby Goblin begin to shout and yell. The fervor that sweeps the air pushes back the human forces and forces them to retreat. The Goblins do not press the attack however and rest.
Meanwhile the main force of Tarakfal of 3000 warriors supported by 500 archers and 1300 human horsemen launch an effort to save the besieged city. Their efforts are in vein as the city falls 2 weeks before they arrive. This forces them to fight the goblins on open field. This is a benefit however as the large human cavalry can be used to great effect. The Goblins meet the humans at a field called Halbsen. Nearly 5000 humans prepare to meet a force of 3500 goblins. The goblins get into a shelled formation to best utilize their archers and to fight the calvary tactics of Tarakfal. Unfortunently the raiders they have arent that good for defense. The number of archers also isnt that effective. The human horsemen sweep through the flanks as the warriors plow through the center. Heavy casualties are inflicted on both sides but the goblins are forced to retreat when the left flank collapsed. The Goblins retreated to the city to lick their wounds.
-----The Goblins then converge two of their forces on the Amorfal army. The Amorfal army of 10,000 was suddenly hit by 2 Goblin forces. From the southeast was a Goblin force of 2000 raiders and from the west a force of near 4000 goblin troops. Combined it totaled 6000 vs 10,000. Possibly it will be the largest battle of the war. With the element of surprise on their hands, the Goblins from the southeast hit the huamans as the attempted to go from marching lines to battle ones. The disarray allowed the Goblins to gain the upper hand. Several hundred died within the first 10 minutes of fighting. The huamans were able to push back the initial assault by the south-east force and regroup. The goblin force was small and could be dealt with.
-----Suddenly from the west a new goblin force arrived. One of near 4000 men. Now outflanked the humans tried to feign goblin south-east to quickly deal with them. The goblins fell for the trick and attacked. They charged into a wall of warriors as arrows rained death upon them. Human calvary tried to hold off the western force but it simply couldnt. As the south-east force began to collapse they saw the goblin forces from the west and renewed their attack. As the weak flank of the south-west human line began to crumble they had to force troops from the west to the lines. This weakened their western line allowing the goblins to press the attack there. After four hours of heavy fighting the Amorfal king gave the signal to retreat. Under protection of the archers and weaning sunlight the forces withdrew. The goblin now fatigued beyond so far was a stalemate.
-----This would go down as The Battle for Glory.
MANFIA (a.k.a where the orcs, goblins and skaven are):
Coren begins great expeditions in over seas exploration. Coren sends out ships filled with troops to claim the island to the west that has yet to be named. They also send colonist ships to the southwest to find nothing but more seas. Low on food they head up north and colonize the island.
The Imperial Orcs and Finif continue to expand east. Imperial scouts must be sent out before further expansion can continue. Meanwhile Finif settlers find many uses for the mountains as iron, copper and zinc are found. The fields to the south prove to be highly fertile as many move to the region.
All Orcs learn naval warfare as Coren gives it to everyone.
Story:
Follonar writes his last book entitled The Uncompleted Piece by his friend. The Skaven writer was arrested for treason and found guilty several hours later. His execution was before thousands of spectators. They watched as he was beheaded by the executioner. Outrage immediately followed. The courts ordered his books be burned and his closest friends rounded up for treason and heresy. They took his books and several printing presses and moved into Majori Skavi where they are given shelter. The king there has used Follonars writings to great use as he has gained support of the people and most of the military. He only needs an opportunity to grasp power from the merchants.
SPOTLIGHT: Skaven Hierarchy:
The Skaven hierarchy is a complex one and differs form nation to nation but all of them go along the lines of such.
1) Royalty: Royal Family rules the nation with little to no power. The nation with most monarchal power is Majori Skavi and the least with no monarch is Allori Skavi. The Royal family is merely a figurehead that the people can feel attached to. All the royal families have been over the years forced to sign laws giving up their powers to the merchants.
2) Merchants: The Merchants control all trade within the Skaven nations. In Allori Skavi they control the nation through the Grand Assembly of Merchants which meet every 3 years to pick the Council of Elders. The Council is of 20 merchants that rule the nation and make laws. Merchants in other nations have less democracy when it comes to a form of council or small group of ruling merchants. In Islandi Skavi for example one merchant family has ruled for 90 years and has also been declared royalty making their power absolute In the nation.
3) Nobles: The nobles which had power hundreds of years ago but no longer do. They are mostly rich citizens that do not control trade or business at all. The most powerful nobles can be found in Minori Skavi where the nobles have a small assembly that can governs each town, keeping local power away from the merchants.
4) Peasants: The majority of Skaven are peasants and are either laborers or farmers. They have no power what so ever.
