Where does that leave non-atheist Darwinians?

They can use it too. Is the fish symbol surrounding it not a Christian symbol? :p

unless... the symbol represents evolving away from Christianity.

I nearly missed that.

Good question, I'm stumped atm

Something which symbolises the core of atheist belief; the single, unifying thing which all atheists have in common...

If you see what I mean. :p

...being white? :mischief:

I'd prefer if Athiests didn't come across as the "Screw you dad, I'll believe whatever i want!" type.

I think the symbol for Humanism might as well be used as the symbol of Atheists:

It looks like a black guy in the 60s just before he got lynched.

Why do they no longer use the classical one?

Too complicated, I assume.

I think that is a better symbol for the nihilist subgroup of atheists ;) It would need to be clear though (no color)... but than that's just nothing... oh... i see what i did there.

I'm very keen on the Humanist symbol, but it is the Humanist symbol...not an atheist symbol. (Humanist sans deities myself.)

The whole concept of an "atheist symbol" is very American-centred, anyway. In Europe, "atheist" doesn't really exist as a religious identity, because religious groups don't wield the same influence (in most countries), and so it is not necessary to define yourselves in opposition to them. People are more likely to think of themselves as secularists or humanists, if they think about it at all.

A skull and bacon. Perfect.
