What 25 inventions does humanity NEED to create?

A device that gives a nice back scratch. I'd never leave the house again. Come on science it's time!!

No dice. I'd still have to manually operate that thing. A fully automated operation is essential.

If you're willing to pay me $50/hr plus expenses I could be the back scratching device you are looking for.

If you're willing to let your nails grow a little, you can consider yourself hired!

I already let my thumb nails grow because I find them useful tools! Will that suffice or should I let all the other ones grow as well?

Hmm, I think moderate lengths on all the fingernails is required.

Perhaps it's been mentioned already but fembots, it's time..

In the meantime perhaps I can put a wig on my newly acquired back scratcher and see if one thing leads to another..

Anything that can slow us down without bumming us out.

Careful, this could happen to you.

What inventions are not so doable like a jetpack or bionic contact lense which are right around the corner but aren't completely super-advanced and beyond the human ability like FTL travel or a Dyson sphere. Basically what are some middle-future inventions as opposed to near-future and far-future. 10 would be great. I decided to make an RPG world in the mid future

Autonomous cars may be an important mid-future item (don't count on them in real use for the near future). Jetpacks are unlikely ever: they can be done even now but are excessively risky, thus no demand.

Improved medical care in general is an obsession into which a lot of resources will keep being poured, your lenses idea may be a good guess. And I can't make any more guesses, I'm not an optimist regarding quick technological progress.
Things change slowly, the quick progress of the late-19th and early 20th century seem more the exception than the rule in history. More recently we've had digital processing as a big breakthrough but I feat that much of what that unlocked has already been done.

I think you will be presently surprised when it comes to autonomous cars. I see them being mainstream as early as 2025. As for progress, I cant decide. It's possible we have gotten as advanced as we can possibly be but 30 years ago, we could've never imagined the internet. In 30 years, who knows. We may have merely only scratched the surface. Anyway, I see my world in the late 2090's early 2100's. Mid future. Far future would be 2200 and beyond.

The question of liability is the main problem with autonomous cars, and I'm slightly skeptical on that being sorted out on a large scale in the next 10-15 years.

Forget autonomous cars. They are near-future as far as I'm concerned. I'm looking for ideas that are impossible to do now but not so advanced as we can't even imagine them. I don't want a Black Mirror or a Whoverse.

Amazon Prime sends you a free internet connected single cup coffee maker that dispenses coffee when it gets the biophysical cues from you that indicates that you probably want coffee. When you run low on coffee pods it automatically orders you new coffee pods which are delivered from a tesla autonomous delivery van directly to you coffee maker by a quadrotor drone which flies through a self opening window on the second floor of your house

Local/community/in-house 3D printing of most non food consumer products

This, in turn, will allow for massive desalinization & pumping of sea water. Central Australia will become a gardenland.

Elon Musk's hypertube.

Designer babies.

Intravenous nano-droid surgeons. No more arterial plaque, strokes, heart attacks.

Solar-powered, helium-filled sky yachts.

Android servants.
holographic movies

Solar-powered meat-growing machines, making cows, pigs, chickens, fish, etc. obsolete.

Undersea farming & towns.

Plastic-eatin sea microbes.

Flying cars.

[later]
cyborg bodies & body parts

implanted computers with HUD monitors, brainwave controls, and Library of Congress databanks

"body hackers" taking control of cyborg bodies and implanted computers

drone delivery vehicles & pirate drones to prey upon them
