    It's common in every country. Family connections also work in non-Western states.

    Yeah, it happens everywhere more or less - in America it's not uncommon to see one or few families dominate politics in a local area after a few generations. In Asia at least I think people don't feel like hiding it as much, or rather not caring much about it, not that that means it's necessarily better or worse per se. I think Japan isn't as bad as Korea, though, in terms of this sort of thing overall.
