What are you working on now?

I'm organizing the next LAZARUS textmode release, we are planning on releasing sometime in december. It will be our 12th pack overall and the 2nd one in the modern era. We don't have a ton of members yet, but have several new ones! And already about 25 submissions, which is an amazing start.

I'm also now involved in the co-running of the Blender competition, which I used to host back in the 90s. It's an online competition that allows ANY sort of submission. Participants send in 3 words - a noun/subject, an action, and a place. We put the words in a bin and pull out 1 of each. Then the participants have 24 hours (or the weekend, depending on what we announce) to create anything at all they want that is somehow about these 3 words. Last time around we did KUNG FU MASTER / DANCING / IN A PRISM. I wrote a song for it and drew an ansi. The winning entry was an ANIMATED ascii, which had a guy moonwalking. It's awesome and I will post it once the pack is released.

Other than that I'm managing a football team! In a video game. Football Manager 2020.

I don't have time for anything else, because of FM

Coincidentally, I'm managing a baseball team. I've reloaded Out-of-the-Park Baseball 17. I don't like the later versions.

I wrongly believed I didn't not need to re-read the rules, so I now need to start over. I like playing with a fictitious league. I think my next league will stretch from southern California to Puerto Rico to Panama.

Yeah, I've had to re-start my game a bunch of times, because it's so different from FM2012.

My dream is to take a club from as low as possible to as high as possible. The English football pyramid is the one with the most depth in the world (and the most history), so I have set up a brand new club in the 6th division. In real life a new club would have to start lower I believe, but the game only has the top 6 divisions modelled. I'm starting off with 0 players and 0 staff and have to hire everyone and put everything together for the new season.

This is tough.. No staff want to join me at first, because I'm a nobody. After I manage to sign decent scouts (I haven't yet) I will have to look for allll my players. Then figure out tactics and get ready for the season. Which starts in 2 months.

Most people don't play this game like this, but I have this.. passion to do it this way.

I used to play baseball games, as I was quite into the sport when I moved to Canada. It's just so different, and fun to play (when you're batting, it sucks when you're catching). I remember playing through a whole season of Hardball 3. After I finished I threw baseball away, because there's just too many damn games a season lol. It really tired me out and I just walked away from the sport.

You should manage a Polish baseball team. And win the World Series with them.

True, but... The first time I played it, I set up a worldwide league. The one weakness of this game is you can't set up your own schedule. So I'd find my team flying from, say, Warsaw to Rio de Janero, to Tokyo, to New Delhi, to Montreal. It's just not realistic. :crazyeye:

I usually play in my dream area of the Caribbean. That way, I can have a few US teams, but also Cuban, Puerto Rican, Venezuela, and I can pretend we're all getting along.

You could pretend it's a baseball league from the future. Then you could imagine your players using teleporters to get from stadium to stadium and it'd be realistic, and if you want to make it super realistic you could put Klingons and Ferengi players on your team and include a team of all Vulcans.

The upside to the downside is that we have a full two months to make the move instead of being rushed, which is especially nice given the little bastard will drop in that two month time frame.
This was vicious lies and propaganda.

The landlord will let me put my current unit back on the market early and I have to keep paying rent until either the lease ends or they successfully rent it. That is fine and expected, what is not expected is that the landlord takes my keys when it goes on the market so I lose access to the unit that I'm paying for. This in turn means we have to complete the move in the week after Thanksgiving, hard stop. Our movers are coming to move furniture the day before Thanksgiving, actually, and all that week I'll be moving boxes between apartments myself to save money. I was able to fill out all of the paperwork for the move yesterday though, so that felt great.

The other day I noticed that the horn didn't sound quite right. There's 2 horns, and they have different tones. So went looking, and found a broken wire to one of the horns. Made a new piece to fix that.

Also spent a couple hours doing a back to black treatment on all the exterior trim pieces.

I took tomorrow off, originally just to relax but now it's turned into a major packing day. I hope to be down to just the essentials and food left to pack and I'll hold off on that until the bitter end. I can't wait for this move to be over but I'm also excited at the same time.

I'm working on a short story that I don't really have time to write, but I'm making the darnedest effort to get it finished anyway.

I'm also prepping for another stint in the ER as Covid infections keep climbing here. I expect to be in the thick of it in another month or so, and I have to make arrangements for all of my patients to either see me virtually (as per usual lately), or be seen by someone else. Seeing them virtually is a bit of a pain, because I usually work nights in the ER and I'm off at 7:00 AM. Then it's into my home office until noon/1:00 PM when I can finally go to sleep. Then I get up at 5:30 and do it all again.

I'm getting too old for this...

Get off my lawn.

What's the story about?

I said I would post the winning entry from that compo I hosted. I forgot to do that, so here it is. It's an animated ASCII. The theme was KUNG FU MASTERS - Having a dANCE OFF - inside a PRISM

Yard work. Had to clean leaves off the front yard 3 times this week. Never got to the back yard, where there is always a lot more leaves.

@warpus That is pretty neat. Did you make it, or was it another contest entrant?
