I agree with the person on page one; Argentina is my preferred dark horse. While it's a bit modern, it does have the female leader possibility, it spreads the geography out, and can have some really awesome UA possibilities.

Some of these poll options would be very dark horse, such that many don't have a shot, in my opinion.

For example, Finland is already represented in the game (bundled into Sweden).

As for a Native American civ, I wouldn't really classify them as dark horse; I fully expect one Native American to be included.

Anyway, my dark horse candidates, working under the assumption that the other eight are Poland, Assyria, Brazil, Portugal, Zulu, Indonesia, Kongo, and a Native American, would be:

the Inuit
Israel
Tibet/Nepal
Silk Road civ (perhaps the Timurids)
Mughal Empire (along with a reworked India)

Indonesia
the maritime countries in the world , have thousand island , with a good militaristic
that i know indonesia have a special military infantry called kopasus

Spoiler :

and also indonesia have a historical units , a ship called phinisi

that had explore until canada

indonesia is the largest muslim religions , secondly is christian , third is hindu , and fourth is budhism

the largest population no.4 after china , india , usa

Honestly I think most of us here would be surprised if Indonesia/Majapahit/Srivijaya didn't get in, and consider them more probable than "dark horse". The Hebrews/Israel would be interesting too, although I'd prefer an ancient incarnation.

Sry, but still no :)
Hungarian Hussars were totally light cavalry originally, and the polish remade them to be heavier.
This process started around the end of the 16th century, when the hungarian king of Transylvania, István Báthory (Stefan Batory in polish) also became king of Poland, and organized a couple hussar regiments based on the hungarian model.

Anyway, just check a couple pics about which is light and which is heavy cavalry:

I hope you mean Hungary and Poland ;)
About the Hussars coming from Hungary, that is what I read, and I believe I said that _-, you make me doubt my ability to communicate in English language on basic level.

I can distinguish heavy and light. I thought that the Hungarian and in early stages the Polish Hussar was heavy. As guns became more popular, they shifted into light. It made sense to throw away old fashioned iron sweaters and berets, and instead invest in mobility, since metal plates would not give much protection against guns. I am sure that first Hussars were heavy, I read that on the internet, and as we all know internet is always the most trustworthy source of information! If not... once BNW comes out and I conquer the world, I shall rewrite history books, mahaha! But before that, read this:

Over the course of the 16th century hussars in Transylvanian-Hungarian had become heavier in character: they had abandoned wooden shields and adopted plate metal body armour. When Stefan Bathory, a Transylvanian-Hungarian prince, was elected king of Poland in 1576 he reorganised the Polish-Lithuanian hussars of his Royal Guard along Hungarian lines, making them a heavy formation

I hope Zulu isn't the only African civ in this expansion. That would be an insult to the diversity of African cultures.

it's just a game, not an annal of "worthy" or "best" cultures. Lack of inclusion doesn't mean anything.

I choose "Other"

New Zealand. It has almost no shot and I think nobody has even considered it as an unlikely candidate, therefore... perfect "dark horse" choice.

Although Canadia and Navtive sound awesome too.

I'd like to have Belgium in game so I can kill them at sight.

I'd conquer Belgium for the freedom fries French fries Belgian fries. :mischief:

You're extremely lucky you crossed out the non-existent 'French fries'

How's this for a darkhorse:
The Celts get adjusted to represent just Ireland, and Scotland is added as a separate civ.

Honestly would not expect it and I'd probably like it at the same time :]

Boudicca cannot be Ireland's ruler, because she lived in England.

Indeed. Strictly speaking, it's the name of the largest island in the British Isles; the country name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

To be even more specific, Great Britain is "great" when distinguished from the other Britain - Brittany.

Indus Valley Civilization is a terrible name for a civ. Even Harrappan doesn't sound good as well. I prefer including civs that we know enough about to make them interesting to play. What would the city list be of Indus? Who would be the leader? What language would he speak? Name a Unique Unit that doesn't sound generic? I just feel there's not enough meat on that bone so to speak. And there are quite a few civs from the Indian subcontinent out of which you can create interesting, distinct and playable civs. I'm thinking of Maurya, Mughal*, Chola or Tamiles, just to name four.

*They are imho incorporated heavily into the India we have and are modern so I wouldn't like to get them, but well, they are candidates after all...

Out of all the options I most want:
Hittites or Phoenicians

Out of all the options I most expect (assuming Zulu, Portugal, Indonesia, the Sioux and another African Civ will all make it in):
Canada or Australia (I would still class both as dark horses, but they suddenly seem a lot more plausible based on the inclusion of Brazil. As well as the Assyrians I can't see another ancient Civ making it in).
