What do you do when a vending machine steals your money?

Complain to whoever runs the place its in. If its in public, then I'd be angry and do nothing.

Slap in another bill and get the food.

I rarely use vending machines, and I only do when a) it's the only source of food around, and b) I'm starving; thus, putting in an extra dollar is justified to me.

This.

It depends on the vending machine, if its one of the ones where its a spiral coil that keeps each item in place, I steal, hand up inside its all mine. Of course the newer machines fix this, and if its less than 10p I leave it. More I destroy the coin slot and surroundings...

For snack machines, I tend to shrug it off and tell myself I probably didn't need the empty calories anyway. If a coke machine ripped me of my diet coke however, there'd be hell to pay.

this was the fate of my last foe

This happened to me recently, I was stranded at an office building with only enough change for half the price of a canned Coke. So I looked around the parking lot for a while and found a few coins, put them in the machine and it stole my money.

Depends on how my day is going. If I'm in a good mood I'll likely contact the building owner or simply take it as a loss...if I'm in a bad mood I'll likely go apeshit and start kicking it repeatedly out of unadulterated rage.

My father works on vending machines, so I just ask for his help. If he isn't around I tend to just let it go. It's not worth hurting myself to get the junk food out of it.

Well, I simply accept that my photocopied dollar is gone forever. C'est la civ.

I usually use C-4 to extract justice, but if I haven't got any handy, a crowbar gets the job done.

I kick it a few times and then put in another dollar. Then I complain for the rest of the day about how my foot hurts.
