What do you think of us Brits

Never to stop fighting is better than to have surrendered.

As a coward, I have to say "what?!"

If you die, you die, how useful are you going to be to your country? But if you surrender on the first day, regroup, then launch another attack, you're more likely to win, surely? Bravery, as I understand it, is foolishness where you die. Cowardice is living to fight another day in a better situation.

You were our mother country and much that is good about us we got from you. Our staunchest allies and one of only a handful of nations I think the USA should be willing to risk its own downfall to stand shoulder to shoulder with come hell or high water. A bit odd with that whole monarchy thing, and the weird words you use sometimes, but every nation has its quirks. :)

So here you are indeed continuing to fight. The French, on the other hand, just gave up.

They wouldn't have had to flee if you lot hadn't collapsed so incredibly in the first place.
You mean, as long as you could hide behind us, you would have stayed, and then when we no longer shield you, you flee instead of fight and go lick your wounds in your islands?

And the French didn't just give up. Do you remember the tall guy with the French accent who kept pestering Churchill during 5 years?

We were happy to help protect your country, but unwilling to do it on our own. If you won't do it, neither will we.

Ah, the British, always willing to fight Napoleon to the last Prussian, or the Germans to the last French soldier... and then... :woohoo:

Spoiler :
For the people who don't know me and may be wondering, I've been :joke: from the beginning of the thread... Except when I said we got a warmer welcome in Scotland than in England

'Nuff said.

That considerably lowered my respect for the UK. :vomit:

Isn't he the arse who wanted a greater Europe but vetoed our attempts to enter it?

Now, now, this is a thread about what people think of Britain, not how much the British hate the French ;)
But the jealousy the British have toward the French, and that they try to disguise as hate or disdain, is a fundamental part of what the British are!
It's normal it surfaces quickly when asked what people think of Britain!

Seriously, I don't really like how the British are doing business. That's related to the way the competitors I have the UK behaved in my trade, or how the would be British customers I could have had behaved.

Seems logical to keep you out to make it Great. With you, it would just have been larger, not greater. :p

Spoiler :
Joke aside, it may not have been his smarter move

The way I see it the nations of the world are just one big family. The British, having had the largest Empire of all, are obviously the father figures with the Americans being the stronger, although less mature, teenage son. The French on the other hand are that crazy uncle who still wears flares and talks about how he "hasn't lost it".

I agree that some of the resentment felt towards the French does stem from jealousy, yes. It would be wrong, however, to suggest that all of it does. One example of the stupidity we do just to try and feel superior to your guys is the Olympics. WE are now the ones with the wasted billions of government money. Yes, we won in the short term, but if the French had got it we'd be laughing now. As it is, we look a bit foolish.

The truth comes out at last! Steph just wishes his country was called 'great' by people every time they mentioned it.
