What do you think your ancestors did for fun?

I thought now was the time you were free both saturday and sunday. And most here in Sweden gets lot of holidays and days off. Yes, I heard you over the Atlantic only have ten non-weekend/holidays days off. What a shame.

We here over the Baltic have free saturdays too , but a office worker knows no rest ;) .. and that is still less than the free (or mostly free) days the peasants had.

Cabber toss, golf, jigs, reels, slides.

My Norwegian ancestors pillaged England for fun. My English ancestors spent most of their time hiding from my Norwegian ancestors.

My ancestors farmed and mined for a living, so maybe they just had sex for fun, I don't know really.

Most likely drank and reproduced. Especially the last one.

Pre Stoneage-Discovered fire
Ancient Civilization-Scribes
Middle Ages-Landlords
American Revolution-Advocated Overthrow of british rules
1800's-Investors/writers
early 1900's-wrote newspapers
1940's- infiltrated Nazi government and helped ant nazi rebels
1950's-infiltrated USSR and helped anti commie rebels (continued today in N. Korea)

Killed Italian Imperialists in Sicily.
Worked in Crime Families in America.
Shot English Imperialists in Ireland.

They'd grow long beards, paint their faces, eat hallocinagenic mushrooms and dance around big fires chanting stuff; whilst simultainiously sacrificing animals and foreigners.

Kept their heads down and worked hard, hoping the Nazis wouldn't shoot them today. For fun, they imagined a world where people would come to rescue them.

Well, that, and my grandmother showed me how to make a toy from a shoestring and a button.

Ooh, which Nazi-Occupied nation did your Grandparents flee from after the war?

Raided the English invaders, stole their cows,
led the cows into the Crannog, were greeted as heroes of
the chlann. then drank copiously.

One thing I have learned from working with so many people from Ecuador is that leisure as we think of it in the west is a product of a bourgoise society and probably a fairly recent invention (for the masses), it is not a universal concept.

For most of our ancestors life was most likely short and full of work, travail and misery.

Well, I'm German and French with some Welsh and another unknown (Feather. We assume it's probably German or Jewish.)

So. Probably loved killing Romans, Brits, Germans. Making my ancestry possible. Hunting cute little furry animals. Fighting wars. And other stuff I have absolutely no way of knowing of.

Yes but also full of astonishingly violent sports and astonishing amounts of booze.
