What gives with tolerant atheists?

And yet, and yet... there is one significant political party which is explicitly Christian, and they currently have 11 seats out of 169 in the national parliament. And except for members of that party, I cannot recall a national politician's religious conviction (or lack of same) being a matter for any discussion at all.
 
Maybe so . . . but it is still codified. So religion may play less of a role in European politics (hardly surprising, given that religion plays less of a role in European society) but it is still there.
