Rhesus factor, first established from experimentation on rhesus monkeys, if you have the rhesus factor you cannot give blood to those without it, but can recieve blood from them; when blood groups were first identified they wondered why tranfusion of type A blood into type A patients sometimes killed them, the rhesus factor is the answer, there are many other factors in blood but the letter and the minus or plus are the most important: for example I am.
A Rhesus: D positive
Indeed A+ is the second most common blood group AFTER O curious
As a side note, O+ is the most common blood in the world. But that's because it is very common in Asia. I think that A+ is the most common in the West(though I am not absolutely certain).
One thing im surprise is that so many ppl dont know their blood type. I must ask everyone to get to know their blood type and write this information somewhere in the wallet or even wear a dogtag, this is very important as in case of emergency the hospital staffs may know ur blood type even when u happened to be unconscious so as to save valuable time.
