What in heaven's name is "Poodle rock"?!?!
Although the delineations in the types of metal are arguably necessary, it does take up a lot of space for the other forms, including as was said before, 'classic rock'. Does folk come under folklore? Does Irish/Celtic?
This is a topic that does not lend itself to easy partitions, except in the most broad terms.
And there is a difference between rap and hiphop. Just try and find Mr T's recording "Rapping" (real, real bad stuff from the 80s) and compare it to something from a present hip hop group. But it can appear similar to begin with, to the uninitiated.
I can't bring myself to vote for a single option, save Other, and steal the words from Slowwhand, and label my preference as "Eclectic" -swing, jazz, classic rock, modern rock, ballads, folk, early metal, all the varities of classical (with priority to Wagner, and to a lesser extent Enrico Morricone), military marches from the first half of the 20th century.
Oh, and we have both types of music here, country and western
