Classical music is very good.

It was the Metal/Rock of it's day....
Music for the Intelligent ones, who wanted more from life.

And before any pro-active 16 year olds even speak,
When I say metal, I DO NOT mean the current US mass-produced nu-metal boy bands.

To all trend slaves:
It takes more than wearing a black hoodie to have a BLACK HEART!

ENEMY ACE knows this!

I quite like my black hoodie thank-you-very-much.

One of the Nirvana ones actually.

Nirvana can't be called nu-metal.

And since my heart changes colour, I have a nice lnog sleeved Gig on the green long sleeved T-shirt for when I'm in a happy mood, and some nice leather stuff for my 'other' mood. :spank:

For my it's almost all symphonic/progressive (hard)rock/metal. Examples: Marillion, Fish, Dream Theater, Yes, Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails (The Fragile is definitely progressive), Tool, Porcupine Tree (which no one probably knows of :p), Ayreon, The Alan parsons Project...ah well, I think I've named enough. ;)

Anyway, I had to put my vote under the category "Other".

one more vote for classical.

I could listen for a long time or for short intervals and still have the music stimulative to the nerves.

There is of course the much vaunted "Mozart Effect" where students listening to a Mozart piece were shown to perform better in intellectual tests than those listening to popular and other genres :)

few favs:

Gould- Bach Goldberg Variations
Beethoven 5th Piano Concerto
Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto [/B]

The Goldberg Variations certainly fit your bill of music that both stimulates and calms the nerves. It was said that Bach composed it for a noble patron of his who suffered from insomnia! Glenn Gould was some piano phenomenon though purists find his Bach eccentric, but I enjoy his interpretations as much as those of younger pianists like Andras Schiff.

The chamber music of Beethoven and the ballet music of Tchaikovsky also sound well in this context and are worth sampling.

Aha! so you are a erm.."modern music" fan...
And I am aware that grunge is the main influence on the above
seattle based outfit. (may I never mention thier name!)

So this explains your fear of NEDS!
In Glasgow, The spotty thugs are the nu-metal fan's natural enemy!

And I am worried about your unstable mind...all these moods and changes of clothes...weird!

Actually, I listened to "Stairway to Heaven" on the way to my SAT's, and scored very high :D

I too actually quite like my black Nivarna hoodie:)

Uh, the perfect description of my musical tastes would probably just to say my three favourite 'hardly listen to anybody but' bands are Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana and Foo Fighters.
I've been particually in the Nivarna mood recently (lets just balme a certin girl for that and say no more) so my vote went for Grunge.

Sixchan - all of those bands you listed are great are great:) part from that i've grown a real distaste for Linkin Park for some bizare reason:confused:
