What are your political views? What party are you in or plan to join? Why are you in that party?

In a perfect world.. I would vote for Christian Socialism that focuses on big business. But since in real life, that doesn't exist and I would just be throwing my vote away, I generally vote for da democrats.

I'm socially conservative and economically center-left. It's a rare pairing I know, but fortunately I live in Canada, which has a far larger number of (competitive) political parties than the US.

Pro:
choice
gun
assisted suicide

I have no set political party. Yet I've been called neocon and republican many tiimes on here. I voted Nader for Pete's sake.

Utilitarian and libetarian.

The state should do whatever will bring the greatest benefit to the greatest number of people. The state should never limit an individuals freedom unless the exercise of that freedom further limits anothers freedom.

How one best achieves those aims is the sticky part though.

I find boiling things down to such simple principals is very useful in illuminating when you are being a hypocrite. Which while uncomfortable is useful to know.

Using Skad's and some other programs:

Pro:
Choice (in extreme cases such as rape and life-threatening)
Euthanasia
Separation of Church and State
Gay Marriage and Adoption
World Trade
Tough on Crime
Social Programs
Immigration
Medium Government

High Taxes on Corporations
War on Drugs

Against:

Government funding religious organizations
Military Spending
War as a first option

A capitalist, advocating anything that strengthens capitalism.

As far as the Reader's Digest Condensed Version goes, I'm a libertarian - socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

In short, I am for

Small government in economics

Powerful government in military/foreign affairs but don't want any more optional wars other than Iraq and Afghanistan (both of which I support)

States Rights (leave gay marriage, abortion, euthanasia, etc. to the states)

Libertarian on many issues (don't care about gay marriage, euthanasia, many such things)

And I'm very much a supporter of our small allies (Taiwan, Israel, etc.)

BTW- When I get old enough to vote, I'll be a Republican. Still, I dislike how they enjoy war (war is necessary, but never fun or to be taken lightly), how they've become big government, and dislike how they're first trying to take social issues to the national government (when it should be the states) and also how they get so defensive about stuff that doesn't affect them (gay marriage for example. I think it's disgusting, but don't see how it's my job to tell them to be good).
