I saw 300 at the moving picture emporium, and it was quite decent as far as films adapted from graphic novels go. Less of the girls would have been optimum. The ending was rather spiffing in an old fashioned rousing sense.

Other than that, there was 'The Dam Busters' and 'Above Us the Waves' on the television of late; the latter builds the tension quite nicely until the triumphal shout from the communications man "It's N*gger!" and they go and nearly shake Barnes Wallis' arm off. Fine black and white pictures.

Edit: For some reason, Guy Gibson's dog is verboten. Tsk.

The Lives of Others. Best film of the year so far.
300: surely will be the most visually impressive film this year.
Curse of the Golden Flower was pretty disappointing.

I just finished Metropolis. There was an extensive explanation at the beginning talking about the restoration and missing scenes that were filled in with text explanations. Seems like the majority of the missing scenes involved the rather creepy "thin man".

Anyhoo, good flick and now having seen it, I can see the influence it's had on other movies that I didn't realize where they had the inspiration before. Obviously quite aged (and fragmented with the missing scenes), but all in all still an enjoyable movie.

Babel!
Babel!
Babel!

Watched Children of Men today. While the script wasn't exactly innovative Cuarón's direction is always top notch and the cast did pretty good job too. Quite good film especially when compared to most of the crap that comes out these days.

I saw Superman Returns yesterday, it was pretty good, better than I expected. 3/5

I saw Wild Hogs today, pretty lame, but not horrible. 2/5

I saw Click tonight. It's definitely one of my favourite films.

What does everybody else think of it?

Over the weekend I watched Prison Break, Season 1, episodes 7-12.

I also watched Der Untergang (again). Such a kick in the face that movie.

Heh just saw Hot Fuzz yesterday. Bloody funny film! :goodjob:

Kate Beckinsale, some funny humor, a tad bit touching at a few parts, Christopher Walken, 'twas pretty alright.

Oy, mighty film. Has serious deficiencies in structure/pacing (though of course it follows an established timeline so there's a limit what can be done about that) but that's not what you remember after the film. You remember that earth-shaking performance by Ganz, the sexy uniforms, and the total breakdown in the concepts of military and civilian, like no other war film ever really showed you.

Déjà Vu, pretty good.
Night at the Museum, not bad, worth the rental.
Smokin' Aces. Meh.

Watched Perfume - The Story of a Murderer yesterday. Story dragged quite a bit at times but otherwise it was alright.

I saw "Death tunnel" today. This is one of the worst horror films I've ever seen. The story was horrible and the messy editing of the film didn't help it any. Why? When? Where? Who? How? That's what I kept asking myself during this movie. The story kept leaping between flashbacks and flashing "scary" pictures during action sequences that didn't have anything to do with the whole scene. Half of the time the characters we're having hallucinations that we're just mess of weird imagery and flashy camera effects.

Watch this movie if you want to see a great example of bad editing. The whole movie is just a excuse of showing half naked college girls and flashy images in a row without any real plot.

Cough Blade Runner.
