What Music Are You Listening To? #61: Now without a catchy title...

Ah, Gigi D'Agostino.

BLA BLA BLA remains my favorite of his.

Just look at me. I'm completely soaked!

"Let me become the shadow of your shadow. The shadow of your hand. The shadow of your dog."

Good grief, Jacques. Get a grip.

The extended version and imho the best version, but with a different narrator :

Paul Hardcastle - '19'

^ That Jean Sommer piece is interesting!

Julien Dore's lyrics are appalling, imo.

I like the sound of his voice, but his songs don't appear to mean anything at all.

As for Gainsbourg, he makes my flesh crawl.

'A good heart' written by Maria McKee was about her ended relationship with Benmont Tench who wrote and replied with 'You little thief'. Hilarious.
Both songs were hits for Feargal Sharkey late 1985/early 1986.

Wichita Lineman by Glen Campbell RIP

He definitely peaked with "Next" and "The Port of Amsterdam".
The decline into that schmaltzy stuff is a shame. That's the way
Jim Morrison was heading too. (Yeah, yeah, I know - Jim's not dead, man!)

Randy Newman's 1972 song predicts today's news!

What's with the French song craze ?

For me it's family relevance. :)
My sister-in-law is from Perpignan (where The Liminanas worked for a long time)
and my nephew is an instrument maker who made ouds and electric guitars in
Morocco.

Kyriakos: Look back far enough into a musician's history... and there's Jacques Brel again! :)
