Simply vinegar. Fermented from barley malt.
Nothing else required.

mushy peas, yes :D
salt and vinegar, also
and, if drunk, nothing beats curry sauce. there's actually a flavour of crisp in britain called "chip shop curry". Now that's classy.

I use ketchup, bbq and a bit of lemon or nothing at all.

Am I missing something here? I can't understand why do so many people put vinegar on it. I can't stand vinegar even in my salad. :vomit:

Missing some options:
- Fritessaus (mayonaise but less greasy)
- Special, with onions, curry and fritessaus (as Civ1 addict describes)
- Peanutsauce
- Frites war (peanut sauce and fritessaus)
- Garlic sauce

Peanut sauce? Curry? (WTH do people like that for anyway... )

These are very worrying things to put on chips...Y'all must be possessed! :satan: Back! The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you!

Peanut Sauce is also called Sate Sauce. It is a warm sauce made of peanuts, sojasauce and some spices. Mmjjumie!!!!!!!!

Curry is as red as tomato sauce but with some spiced in it. Also Mmjjumie!!!!!!!!

While He compels I am enjoying frites with peanut sauce right now. Not a bad combi I must say.

actually, from my chippy, curry sauce is a disturbing kind of fluorescent yellow colour, not red at all. I assumed all conventional chip shop curry sauces were of similar colour and taste since they're undoubtedly mass produced in some kind gigantic factory.

If exorcism fails, then a stake through the heart or burning at the stake should suffice...

Anyway, I don't know about any frites. I know about chips, but no bloody frites. :p

But, to the heart of the matter: I just don't get how people can like such stuff, but what puzzles me even more is the huge popularity of curry in England and places round there? WTH is up with that?

i suppose "it tastes good" would not suffice as an answer? a more complex reason for the popularity of curry in england would probably involve britain's colonial rule over india, the connection
that involved, plus the subsequently high levels of economic migration from the subcontinent to the UK. This has resulted in the cultural transfer of things such as food. Indian food also gets modified to fit in with traditional diet of english etc, hence its use in chip shops.
Oh yes, and it tastes good :)

Where are all the Canadians and specifically the Quebecois on this board gone?!?!?!

POUTINE RULES!!!!!!
Gravy with cheese!! Yummm.....it's so good it'll make your heart stop beating!!!

I've just finished eating mine with Cheddar and ketchup.
Delicious!! :yeah:

Mayo!!! Yikes! I never even thought about that. I may have to do a lot of expirementing tomorrow as i use either tomato ketchup or Ranch( :) )
