What to do with hands?

I watch with half a screen, and do regular surfing with the other half of a screen.

My laptop screen is quite small so it ends up an exercise in frustration. TED talks are fine though because I can flip through tabs then.

You could try and translate your fixation onto something else. For instance, maybe chewing gum or sunflower seeds.

Aye, but still my hands are free and they go do digging for random information on the web. Only a full meal that requires a fork and a plate can avert that.

I found a comb on the table & have taken to thoughtfully combing my beard in honor of this thread.

Not bad, I have long hair so it might do.

As for those who suggested knitting and braiding I'm really bad at those (they tried to teach back at village) and can't get the stuff for it easily from where I am right now.

My most sincere advice is to be constructive. If the TV is luxurious time-wasting, the hands should be doing something beneficial. Doubling up on your time-wasting ruins the fact that multi-tasking allows us to be resting AND productive at the same time. It does not have to be epically constructive, but it should have consciously designed positive utility.
