What video games have you been playing V: the return of the subtitle

I'd suggest either Torchlight 1 or Torchlight 2. Very solid ARPGs which are essentially a modern iterations of Diablo, with some very good features, like sending your pet to sell things back in town.

I've been playing The Talos Principle a lot over the last week. I think it's a really good game.

I have played them, they were great as substitutes for Diablo 2 mods while waiting on Diablo 3. I also played "Van Hellsing, Final Cut" which is an atmospheric game with a great story and up to date graphics.

is it related to TALOS from the Elder Scrolls

No, it's a reference to the Bronze Man of Greek mythology. If you like well-made puzzle games with a philosophical bent, buy today whilst it's still on offer at Steam. :)

Try Fate, then? Some of the devs from there helped making Torchlight, so I'd assume that it's similar to it.

Wow, this game. I played it back in 2010 or something when I was bored of D2 mods (Median XL is still the best mod out there).

I dunno, if it wasn't 2016, I would be happy to try something like WoW, but I tried it back in 2014 and it was ok, but not amazing. I'm basically looking for something close to Diablo 3, but without spending 20 euros on it.

I'm not sure what I want - like I want something sophisticated, but yet not too strategic to play during sleepless nights. Grim dawn has about 20-30 possible builds and while I made them all it was fun.

Also - I'm a fan of Civ3 and Homm3, but anything with 3d-ish graphics for a strategy game turns me off.

Someone really doesn't like D3... ;)

TBH I quite enjoy D3 still (played this last season), but there is rumored to be either a sequel or an xpac announced at blizzcon, so anyone looking to buy it should perhaps wait to see what their plans are for it...whether they're essentially abandoning it or not.

It's more that I have a crappy PC and can't really run D3, but D2 is just...dated. I'm sorry but Torchlight 2 is superior in every way.

I like Diablo, but Diablo 3 has been getting abysmal reviews in past 2 years, so I'm saving Diablo 3 as a last resort ARPG. They say that xpac and rift system is good, but considering skills/stat points are still dumbed down like in initial release, it feels without any customisation at all.

Blizzcon is in late Autumn, Wiki says November, I'll keep an eye out. Although the only time I have time for games is Summer.

Can your PC run Grim Dawn, Tolni? It lacks multiplayer aspect, but it is moddable, it has good graphics and it is being updated monthly, so you aren't stuck with 1 purchase = 1 playthrough = let it rot situation.

I just started to play Enderal, a total conversion of Skyrim that basically turns it into a different game, complete with a new map and a new level system based on experience points.
Looks very interesting and seems to have a significantly darker story than Skyrim.
The German version came out today and is unfortunately still prone to crashes between areas and cutscenes. Frequent saving is recommended.
An English version will come out in late July, but before that there's going to be an option to play with German sound and English subtitles.

Interesting. If I get a computer able to handle it, I'll have to try it. The German version could be good practice, at least.

I picked up The Talos Principle, Stardew Valley and Styx: Master of Shadows in the Steam sale. I've only just dipped a toe into each of them, but so far, so good.

I thoroughly endorse The Talos Principle. :)

Bought D3 at last. Got through normal 5 acts in 15 hours, there is no 2nd or 3rd difficulty, but manually adjustable difficulties of monsters. Also you can redo every quest in stand alone manner apart from others in adventure mode.

Dunno if it was worth 35 euros yet, but since I'm a huge fan of Diablo 2 I felt like was missing out only reading reviews of D3 anyway. Maybe it will be fun when the new season starts, but right now it seems like infinite grind fest with no multiplayer factor.

I preordered and got burnt $65 aud
Grinding out the quest over and over to level charactors was not fun, it felt like one of those grindy free Korean MMO games. D:

Playing Stellaris lately. It's pretty good.

Just picked up Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. Can't wait to try that out tonight.

Picked up Dishonored on Steam. I've been meaning to get it for a while and it seems pretty fun although the graphics are pretty rubbish. I'm no graphics snob but the textures seem really muddy and the character models feel almost like plastic figures. Borderlands had a similar feel although the cell shaded look mitigated it.

Playing Attila Total War made me miss Rome: Barbarian Invasion. Apparently the CD key I got with the disk 10 years ago allows me to download the Steam version (thanks Sega, this made up for one of the stupid faction DLC you've thrown at us) and now the game is working! I'm sort of amazed at how poorly polished Attila is compared to Rome 1. Rome 1 had nice descriptions of what made each faction unique in their unit roster; the loads of traits and retinue members made each general feel unique (and some were rather funny to read), and the unit descriptions was far better written.

Definitely prefer Barbarian Invasion over Atilla. But Rome II as stupid as it sometimes is is preferable to the original at this point.
