What Video Games Have You Been Playing VII: The Real Ending is Locked Behind a Paywall

So word is that Bethesda did a solid job of VR'ing Skyrim. That's probably the first VR game that's got me left wanting a Playstation VR set. I've only got one playthrough in Skyrim so I reckon I've got another one more in me given the chance. VR is still too expensive given how much (or little) I'd use it but if I come across a good deal on the used marked then perhaps perhaps. We'll see.
I'm half-way hoping for a Fallout 4 VR game. It would make me really want to buy a PS VR but that's also why I don't want such a game to come out - I don't want to buy a PS VR. haha
Slight overreaction. It's not like they make you buy all the best armour with real money. Or even give you that option. (Dunno about TES online of course.)
Yeah I'm not sure how the creation club makes Bethesda worse than EA. Besides, if you aren't on console, you can still get all the unrestricted mods you want without paying, right?

I saw something about it but didn't look into it and wasn't sure if it was a fan project or a real Bethesda development.

One thing VR would help with is the terrible aiming sensitivity this game has on PS4. I'm sure it's better on PC due to the use of a mouse but on PS4 it's terribly slow. I have the sensitivity on the game turned up to max and I still find that there is a big dead-zone and sluggish movement of the cursor. Hopefully VR would fix that but then again I just remember PS VR still relies on the normal controller I think so it wouldn't help. :(

Skyrim VR gives the option of using the Move controllers. I should hopefully be getting it this week so will see how well that works. No guns of course, but archery sounds like it should be fun.

Ok cool. I played an archery game on a Vive once and it was fun but my arms would get very tired after 30 minutes of archery duels.

So you guys know how everyone fawns all over CD Projekt Red because they focus on creating great games rather than monetization like other big developers? Yeah...well their next big release "Cyberpunk 2077" is going to be more "commercially focused" due to the "increased investment" the company is sinking into the game's development according to CD Projekt Red's CEO.

Looks like the developer that everyone touts as the last beacon of light in Triple A gaming has finally gone over to the dark side. Of course can you really blame them when they see companies like EA still making money hand-over-fist off microtransactions, season passes, and loot boxes despite all the outrage from the gaming community over such practices?

I mean, witcher 3 wasn't commercially focused enough? It released on both major consoles plus pc, sold a ton of copies, had dlc for purchase plus an expansion, it's not like it was light in its commercial offerings.

Nice! Be sure to post your impressions of it. And yeah I'm pretty sure it's best played with the move controllers and not the dualshock, I mean that's kinda half the point in VR.

Do you already have the PS VR or are you getting that too? If yes, what's your take on it?

I've had the PSVR for a few months, but haven't really used it all that much yet. Not because there's anything wrong with it, but mainly because I got it around the same time I finished building my MAME cabinet and it's just easier to fire that up and play some old arcade games than it is to get all the VR stuff set up.

But I think it's a pretty good VR headset. I've used a Vive quite a bit at work and it's really pretty close to that in my opinion. A major benefit of the Vive is that you can set up room-sized areas to move around in, whereas the movement range with the PSVR is more limited due to it just using the single camera. So it's really best suited to games where you're sat down. The only game I've really played much of so far is Battlezone and this works well because you're just sat in a tank cockpit. I think I felt a bit sick after the first time I played it, but after that I've been able to play it for an hour or more with no real problem. It's also a bit difficult to get it in a position where the focus is sharp and clear as there aren't any controls for this and you just have to wiggle it around on your head until it sits in a position that gives you a clear view, which is a bit of a pain, but doable.

I find for the immersion aspect that things that are relatively close to you are a lot more impressive. That's one downside with Battlezone because, aside from the cockpit, everything you're actually looking at is tens or hundred of metres away, so it's not much different to just looking at it on a big screen really. I'm expecting Skyrim to be a lot better in that respect as it's more about existing in a human-sized environment, rather than blasting things hundreds of metres away. Just sitting down in you house will probably be really immersive :) But I'm not sure how much movement range I'll be able to get from the PS camera so that'll be a bit of a learning exercise. Also I haven't really used the Move controllers yet as Battlezone just uses the pad, so not sure how that will all work.

While it feels like a dick move I can get behind the argument that the creator of a thing should have first shout at making a hugely monetizable (???) feature like co-op. We'd be even more up in arms about large companies blocking/negating income for small ones by releasing hypothetically competing content through their platforms.

But do you have to yell your shouts into a microphone for them to be cast? Because if not, how could the experience be... immersive?

Yes. You also have to perform actual magic to cast spells.

Oh wow, I'm glad to hear that!

Hockey is one of the last things I'm still interested in and thus have been holding onto it for dear life. Since I'm housesitting/dogsitting for someone with a PS4, I invested in NHL 18. It has been fairly enjoyable so far although the Be A Pro mode can be a little agitating at times with nonsensical maluses.

Before I left I had started playing Pillars of Eternity. I normally hate games with a camera design like this but it has been surprisingly enjoyable. Not a fan of the puzzles but nothing a Google search can't solve.

I played like an hour of pillars of eternity but it just seemed bland to me. I will try to get into it more.

Yeah I'm not sure how the creation club makes Bethesda worse than EA.

It's not just the Creation Club. It's that coupled with Bethesda now seemingly turning it's back on the modding community it has always supported so much up to this point. And they are doing it for no other reason than them falling into this trend of "WE MUST MONETIZE EVERYTHING!!!!!"

if you aren't on console, you can still get all the unrestricted mods you want without paying, right?

For now. Bethesda blocking this mod could be a harbinger of things to come though. It could be an indicator that Bethesda no longer sees the modding community as an ally that helps sell their games, but rather as a competitor and threat to their profit margins.

EDIT: To clarify: What makes Bethesda worse than EA now is the whole betrayal factor the community is feeling now. Sure, EA is a scummy company, but they've always been a scummy company so people have come to expect it from them. It's just not shocking at all when they do something super scummy or screw over the consumer.

Bethesda on the other hand, has a reputation for being very supportive of the community and being a very consumer-friendly company. So now that they seem to be doing a 180 on that consumer-friendly attitude, it makes it all the more shocking and makes them now look infinitely more scummy than EA.

And if they are actually blocking it because it would compete with one of their forthcoming products, then I would say it's a fair game move on their part. But I have no information on it outside of this thread.

I'm waiting for bethesda to make it so that only Creation Club mods will work. It's only a matter of time..........
