What war(s) would you like to see?

I'd like to see Canada vs. Australia, as it would put more of an emphasis on naval and air combat and lots of guerrilla operations, which would be interesting to see unfold. It would also be very interesting to see how the politics go, and to see how long each countries' supply lines can go.

Canada would utterly destroy us. We don't really have much of a fleet or military you know. What we have is well-trained, but that's about it. Also, I doubt most Australians would care enough to worry about guerilla activities. I personally would defect in a heartbeat.

After the obligatory disclaimer about the high human cost of war, and that I try not to derive entertainment from the sufferings of others, and whatever, I vote for:

The Western Allies and what is left of German forces in the West, versus the Soviet Union and its allies, immediately following the conclusion of WWII.

You know, in a simulator so no one gets hurt.

...none?

What kind of stupid question is this? Life isn't a video game.
But its damned fun thinking through scenarios where 1000s of people would be killed. A true hoot!

I hear you, but so far I think things are going OK. Talking about nasty things is not necessarily about advocating them. War is interesting. This could be moved to the history forum.
Except it has nothing to do with history. This thread has more akin w/ a discussion on being invaded by Martians than history.

Can we just acknowledge the de facto reality and rename the "history forum" the "fiction forum"?

I'd like to see the firebombing of Japanese civilians actually. If they want to be treated as humans, they should act as such.

I propose firebombing chimpanzees on the same grounds. And cattle. After all, we firebomb everything that's not human, right?

Civil War in Dublin. I'd love to see the two sides fighting over their crappy, grimy, depressing city. Hopefully most of it would be destroyed.

Switzerland vs. Libya{
}Mexico and Colombia vs. Cuba and Venezuela
reverse American Civil War(Northern states leave{)
}Greece&Cyprus vs. Turkey, North Cyprus and Hezbollah vs. UK,France and Germany vs.Israel,Singapore and Ethiopia vs. US&Japan. all on the island of Cyprus and as you could probably guess the EU and NATO are pretty much dead after this war:D
China,Myanmar,Vietnam,Pakistan,Indonesia and North Korea Vs. Taiwan,India,Thailand,South Korea,Japan,Australia,New Zealand,Tonga and US{

Has anyone said race war yet? I guess it could be.. interesting.
-A new American civil war
-Germany and Italy vs. rest of Europe excluding Turkey and Russia
-Turkey vs. Middle East with Iran waiting for an opportunity to strike
-Civil war in Congo or some other African nations? nah.. too usual
-USA, Russia, China, India, Japan or EU trying to colonize Africa by force
-China vs. India and Pakistan, and maybe some other regional powers
-Mongolia vs. Asia and Europe - time for revenge for that time 800 years ago
-Naval war only: USA vs. all others

How about just decent coverage of the wars that have been going on there since the mid-90s? Just like the Iran-Iraq War in the 80s or the Yugoslav implosion, it's a huge conflict that gets next to no coverage.

If there isn't a widely known massacre or a bunch of Western hostages, wars like these receive next to no press at the time and little examination later. I'd be very much interested in a detailed military history of such conflagrations in addition to the relatively more common accounts of their political, social, or economic aspects.

I believe it was Jose Ramos-Horta, current President of East Timor, who stated (to paraphrase): "Fundamental human rights are the processes whereby Caucasians give the rest of us orders on how we are to treat them."

Their should be definitly more African war coverage. I want a nice war I can follow not the expenses scandal which is getting so boring
