What will the next DLC have?

It doesn't matter whatkind of history the nation has but what will sell. I don't think DLC of Israel would sell that well. Not to mention that its a subject many people avoid and usually game makers as well, because of the current political reasons. So its totally unlikely they would ever add Israel.

I wonder if a Hebrew civ would be less volatile. They were once a conquering people, and gave rise to the Jewish religion, but wouldn't necessarily have the connotations of the modern Israeli state since Israel the nation is a construct of the 20th century. ALso they were contemporaries of Rome, Babylon, Egypt, Persia, ect.

DLC Melancholia

UA: 'Depressive state' - Happiness from the wine resource is doubled. Happiness from all other luxuries is halved. Happiness generated by buildings is halved.

UU: The Great General is replaced by the Lars Von Trier unit. All nearby friendly units receive -2 strength per turn.

UB: Psychiatrists Clinic - this building will cost 10gpt in the city where it is built. Otherwise, it has no effect on anything.

:faint:

I'm hoping for an expansion moreso than a new DLC. Bring back espionage, add in governments as a control mechanism for social policies and with some other effects, and a few civs for one big DLC expansion.

Guys, have you seen this poll for the next civ to be added as DLC?

http://polldaddy.com/poll/5074730/

If the devs are aware of it, they're probably considering the ones with high votes, which are Zulu, Carthage/Phoenicia, Celts, and Netherlands.

If anything, for me, I would buy a Phoenician civ on day of release.

Korea + Wonders of the World will be the next DLCs, I wonder what awaits after that. :)

That's what a rumour says, but the fact that I find it hard to combine Korea with a 'Wonders of the World'-scenario makes me doubt it.

Mind you, that said, the addition of stone as a resource does make a 'Wonders of the World'-scenario quite likely.

It would make more sense if it's Korea plus another Korea-centered scenario ánd a seperate 'Wonders of the World'-scenario.
Or a 'Wonders of the world'-scenario plus an ancient civ (Phoenecia/Carthage, Sumeria, Hittites, Assyria, Akkadia, something like that).

But still it are rumours. We'll probably/hopefully find out this week :)

Or so they say. But the guy did correctly guess Polynesia, Denmark, Spain, Inca and Mongolia, so...

not to take anything away but with exception of polynesia the rest have been in civ for a VERY long time and captain obvious felt naked without them. i was suprised by polynesia, and i say next is going to be Korea or Zulu despite what we actually prefer.

and there you have it - an expansion worth Civ's or so, sold at a premium price of a full expansion without any expansion features. Talk about "product downsizing..."

But see, the guy even predicted the months when the DLC would come out....so the predictions are not just weighing down on the "well they were in previous Civ games" thought.

So yes, I'm convinced that Korea and the Wonders of the World (separate DLC) will be coming out around the time of the patch. I don't know why some people are determined to be skeptical. =|

i really hope this is the case..

well, i guess koreans used stone, but they're not really all that well known for it. they're kind of meh, really.

The Koreans made a massive wall along the border with China sometime near the Three Kingdoms (Korea, not China) period, and were known for having defensive forts constructed to ward off invasion by China and Japan. They aren't as famous for it as say China (Great Wall), but they still did a lot of fortification. In Age of Empires I and II their towers have greater range to represent this, and in Age II villagers have more line of sight and a stone mining bonus to further represent Korea's defensive wariness. But yeah, a defensive bonus of some sort for Korea would make sense. I just hope it's in the UA, not a UB, and ultimately culture/science represents Korea just as well, if not better.

One could argue that patches have replaced the expansion role, seeing as they keep adding new features in via patches.

I am from the netherlands so of course i hope for the netherlands

But what civ i olso want to see is austria the country that had one of the strongest army in europe in the time of the french revolution/napoleon...

Hmm, it just struck me, an upcoming DLC civ pack could be the Phoenicians and the Celts, both are much needed, classical civs, and they are indeed historially linked, perhaps the most famous thing being the tin trade and the mines in Cornwall. I would be over the moon if they gave us Phoenicians and Celts! :)
