Celtics
Leader: Vercingetorix
Unique Ability: Wild Beasts - No defined ranks confuse enemies in Combat leading to a bonus for the initial attack.
Unique Building: Fortification (replaces wall) - Cities gain +2 defense. (Celtics loved building walls)
Unique Unit: Mercenaries (Replaces swordsman) - Can be "Auctioned" to other nations giving you a lot of gold.
Scenario: War of the Gauls.
I'd call them Gauls since that would be historically more accurate.

Hittites would be excellent, they're one of those civilizations that time forgot but really shaped Anatolia and the ancient world. Great choice if those achievements are indicative at all.

Hittites should have a three man chariot, and it should be able to range attack like the chariot archer but melee attack like a slightly weakened horseman. That way it could be use to both soften up and then take barb camps or cities. Their Unique Ability should be related to their early prowess with Iron -- Maybe they start with Bronze Working and Iron revealed on the map? Possibly too OP.

Or maybe they get a free early Great Merchant and produce Great Merchants at double speed? They were a trading society at the crossroads of the old world powers.

A proper chariot would be good, one that doesn't die at the first sight of trouble.

Maybe Iron revealed with Mining, and a Swordsman replacement with Bronze Working?

I'd prefer GM for Phoenicia

The Hittites could get a cheaper Swordsman as their second UU. Their UA could be something like +2:c5production: from Iron and no mines needed to use it.
I'm really excited about that Wonder DLC, hopefully we can get Assyria one day.:c5happy:

I would personally prefer more "Modern" Civs. Israel and Canada are great examples. I like Civilization a LOT but recently I've been playing Europa Universallis III and really enjoy playing "non power" nations and building them into powers. I would like to see something non-western. There are enough western civs... I would like to see more African or Eastern European Civs... Hell I would even tolerate Quebec or Palestine.. as it would make the game really interesting.. I know it WON'T happen because it's political.. but I think it would be fun to rewrite history as these "underdog" cultures.

For me, the appeal of "non-traditional" Civs is that you get an opportunity to re-write history as that nation. Actually, just to put it out there, I would pay for a "Modern Civ switch" DLC where all the current Civs, are made into modern day nations. Say, Rome would become Italy, Persia would become Iran, Arabia would turn into Saudi Arabia... that kind of thing.

For me, Civ is like a history "sandbox" so, in the end the Civs that are added really aren't important considering you're re-writing history.

37,5% of the game's civs are western, that is not a low percentage.

To be fair, that's because Civilizaton is made by westerners primarily for other westerners, and because western civilizations had to kick ass and be the most prominent civilizations to get us to where we are today (making games about it).

I was simply correcting the guy two posts up, who said there were few.
Though personally I strongly disapprove of the "By Westerners, For Westerners" approach, If research were to be done they would find that there are a ton more of interesting civs outside of Europe, a couple of them has already been suggested in this very thread.
Of course, western civilization did kick a lot of ass, just like you said.

I say bring in Hungarians! Who better to fight the Turks? Sorry about the double post, not sure how I posted twice, other than my pc being slow for some reason today. Anyway, the Poles, and Austrians would fit well in the schemme of things as well. They should create a sort of central European civ pack.

More South Americans, says I! Bring us Mapuche, Tupi or Brazil, which would, in my opinion, be more than 9000 times better than Canada, which would play out as a mix of England and USA, but lamer.
Though i guess Portugal goes before Brazil, in which case I say, bring us Mapuche and/or Tupi!

EDIT/PS: If Portugal was to be included in the game, would Rio be removed from the City States? I mean, it was a pretty important Portuguese city, and even the seat of the Portuguese royal family once, if I'm not mistaken. I know it was the seat of The Brazilian Empire's royal family.

Portugal and the carrack would be nice additions, we need another ship. I'd love to see a race built galleon.

Would you mind listing them out ;) Since I really think you're definition of 'western' is different from the rest of the worlds, lol. Game-wise most people tend to use the same countries for east/west but it seems like some recent posters just go by their region(IE: USA is west of the EU and Asia is east - rather then the 'accepted' method)

Would anyone else like to see elephants become a generic unit available everyone?
Something about an enraged pachyderm appeals to me.

yeah... i kinda miss the wild animal unit in the early game that cIV had... also i feel like there ought to be a unit with a pack of dogs or something...

1.America
2.England
3.France
4.Germany
5.Greece
6.Rome
7.Russia
8.Spain
9.Denmark

9/24 = 0.375 = 37.5%

Basically that which is considered the western world by the worlds modern scholars, getting its name from the fact that its origins lay in the western end of the Eurasian supercontinent, as opposed to eastern culture, the culture originating from the supercontinents eastern end.
