What would it take to get you to move?

How much of a raise would you need to move at least 4 hours away?

How much money I would need is inversely related to whether I (a) have any good friends in the area and (b) have any family there.

I would say a 20% raise PLUS the living cost has to be at least comparable to where I'm living now plus warmer and just as many bike trails wouldn't hurt either.

Unemployed people will probably move for anything lucrative.

Assuming idyllic living conditions, it's hard to put a price tag on the happiness. And if you don't indicate the net gain in moving (Is that what you mean in the poll, a net relative gain after considering differences in cost of living, etc....?), it's impossible to calculate.

No way I'd move. I have a hard time making friends. I really only have one friend now (who's not currently talking to me, but will eventually I think :)) I lived in a city on my own in the military, and it isn't easy getting by without friends. And my family is here where I live. No family and no friends is unacceptable.

I might consider it if I'm making 50 million a year. Then I could buy friends. :D
