What would the world be like if Al Gore won in 2000?

In my opinion, no Iraq war, war in Afghanistan probable.

The economy would be in better shape, as well as the environment, and our debt would not be so high, as Gore would have worked to preserve the surplus. There is much more, but I want to leave it to debate.

From White House CO2 emissions.

We wouldnt have had the pleasure of knowing bush's many public speaking mistakes. The guy could be a comedian if he wanted too. :D

George Bush Jr., humiliated in the 2000 Presidential elections, is accidentally discovered by the comedy community and goes on to become a well-known and praised stand-up artist. :D

No war in Iraq, probably not a war in Afghanistan either. I'm guessing Gore would have responded to 9/11 with a mere speech or some air-strikes against Taliban and Al-Qaeda camps or something of that nature.

Ther would certainly have been no Iraq War. And no decade of posturing against Iran and North Korea which has eroded those relationships and caused NK to do even weirder stuff in response. Gore may even very well have listened to the intelligence experts and perhaps they may have spotted 9/11 before it happened given even a modicum of support.

And on the domestic front, we may not have had the global economic meltdown caused largely by artifically lowering the interest rates and giving absurd incentives to people to buy houses "for no money down", while at the same time deregulating the banking industry.

Things would have likely been drastically different.

What thread do we have, and how old is it?

Family Guy already had an episode on this.
In this Family Guy episode, Death allows Peter to go back in time, but when he returns to the present he discovers he is married to Molly Ringwald and Lois is married to Quagmire. An alternate version of the world is presented in which Al Gore is president, Osama is no longer a problem, flying cars run on vegetable oil, universal healthcare exists, crime is virtually non-existent, education is well-funded, and Supreme Court Justice Scalia, Karl Rove, and Tucker Carlson are all dead. Basically, it’s paradise on earth.

We would have federalized education policy, used American troops for nation building, and created a massive new entitlement program. Good thing W won.

Don't forget the environment! And Liberal education policies make more sense. (Except Charter Schools actually are good)

Please, get into it.

(And don't scream at him people.) :nono:

If Al Gore won in 2000, John McCain would have probably been elected to the presidency in 2004, and probably serving his second term right now.

Yes, obviously. Though I won't get into why here because someone will scream at me.

Those poor state schools should receive no federal help then? So it's better that we have some disadvantaged states and some really well performing states? That makes a whole lot of sense!
