What would your ideal # of hours worked each week be?

Total? I wouldn't mind 40 hour workweeks with 4/10s. I have no problem with the length of time I work, but 2 days off isn't really enough to recover adequately, imo.

Anything would be nice.

Although in my current condition, 10~ is probably pushing it. Something I could do for 2-3 hours a day would be nice and likely my maximum.

Depends on the work. For the kind of stuff I do now, 30 hours would be best. I'm currently pulling 40 but I probably could match that output with shorter hours, but I don't get paid that way.

I liked 50 alternating with 60. Ain't doing anything better with my time, might as well get that paper.

As far as the balance of workday length against days on and days off, I'd much rather do fewer longer shifts. Any work scheduled in a day weighs on my mind no matter the length, longer shifts are just more money once I show up. Working only 20h in a week but spread out over four or five days is a nightmare.

I stay as close to zero as possible. Sometimes it's pretty easy. Lately not so much.

Zero. I only work because I need money to survive. If that weren't the case, I'd probably be the laziest piece of crap around.

168 hours a week. (Er, is that right? 24*7)

It's all work. One way or another.

And I don't want to miss any of it.

Not that I could if I did want to.

Depends on the work. I'd prefer to not sacrifice more than 10 hours of my life per week for my current job. I wouldn't mind 30 to 40 in a job I enjoy, but 40 is the absolute maximum.

I'm thinking 20. Five hours a day, four days a week. I like 1pm-6pm quite a bit.

I remember reading some time back that the !Kung Bushmen averaged 20 hours a week hunting/gathering to sufficiently feed themselves. You might be onto something there.

The worst part of work for me is usually dragging myself away from what I want to do and getting myself to work. Once there, I don't actually mind staying as long as need be. Rather work a fireman's schedule (24 hrs on, 48 hrs off) or some nurse's schedule (3 x 12 hrs for F/T.)

My ideal amount of work per week would obviously be 0. Work for me has always been something I have to do. The only reason I want to work is because I want to have money to things I like, which is not to work. I don't understand the people who say they like work. That's crazy talk to me, but good for them I guess. No one would ever pay me to do the things I like to do. I just got a new job, it's about 25 hours of work a week at the workplace and about the same amount of work at home. That's ok, because the money is decent and the amount of work at home decreases as I get more experience & materials.

40-50 is okay if I'm doing something interesting, 25-30 otherwise.
Zero is not enough, I think I would get crazy.

That depends...
The amount I'd like to be able to do right now to finish up things: 120h
The amount I'd like to work: 40h, but then my days would need to be longer
The amount I'd like to work, without having physical impossibilities: 30h, that'd be comfortable with the rest of my schedule

If it's something I love, there is no limit. Kind of like when Civ IV first came out. :D
But now as I'm approaching the last couple of years of working for money, I'm looking forward to 0.
(going back to playing civ) and not V and VI

Well see the thing is I have to young kids. So if I am not working I am still working and at an even more demanding job! So 40 is probably ideal for me, get them up and head to work. Sure I would love to sleep to 9-10 every morning and work like 11-3 and come home early but it would never happen.

Ideally I'd say 35 hours a week, 9-4. Cus then I could be home and make dinner for everyone by 530 and we would have time for play before bed. Working til 5 and hitting rush hour we eat at like 630-7, then kids gotta sleep.

If I was single my ideal would be like noon to 2pm lol.

If we're just talking pure productivity I am most productive starting around 11am and can work all the way til 9pm before getting burned out. Just not a morning person, like late mornings.
