I'm not going to be able to do anything for a bit. Civilization isn't working on my computer, and when I got out my old one, I found out it was broken. The Star Wars curse strikes again!

*DUM DUM DUM* that's not good. get better soon, Popcornlord's Civilization.

Ennnnnywayz. What website do i got to get the tortoise thing?

So we have something to talk about, I don't think we ever decided on how we're going to do space and land. I personally like the 2 different maps idea, one for land and one for the galaxy, if it's codable. Any opinions?

"if it's codable" is a BIG if. I've been for that style of map for the random since i first got interested in the mod, but for it we would need A) Some more terrain graphics B) someone with python skills C) someone with SDK modding skills, because at the very least, the AI will have to be taught how to work it. :) Having said all that, i still think it's what we should aim for.

Some new terrain graphics? Why? I figure we can use alot of graphics from FF (Planets, asteroid belts, stars, etc.) and the rest we'd need to make anyways. What I'm really worried about is the coding. I'm working on learning python (as I previously said) but I haven't even touched the game's files yet.
Edit: How do you close a pole? It's pretty ovious that after Naboo we're going to do the clone wars (unless anyone disagrees?), so I don't think we're going to need the poll anymore.

Moopoo, you forgot that we're not in the same hemisphere. For me and niknaks, June is when we have our end of year exams.
Edit: And civilization is working again!

Err, no. I should have been clearer: I got it working on another computer. Slow loading times, but at least I can play.

oh ok.

In other news, when i finish my uni semester, i wanna start learning a language: Python or C++. which one should i look at? I've looked at python before (A LOT) and have a hang of the basics, but I found what looks to be a very promising tute on C++, so i'm not sure which one to look at.

Python is generally condidered easier, but C++ is more powerful (At least, that's what I've been told. It's your choice really. About the scenario: I think we should scrap most of the current tech tree and start that from scratch. I'd perfer working with the tech tree as we go, making the tech tree based off units/buildings/etc instead of starting with a pre-made tree. Opinions?
Edit: can either of you get these flags in the game? Don't worry, it won't be as hard as the rancor. :)
Edit again: Nevermind, I just realised they're already in

After a bit more modding, I think it'll be better to start from scratch. The current nabo scenario has a few problems in it, and I think it'll just be easier.

LISP

Honestly, it is a good language to learn simply because of how applicable it is to every problem... that said I still love doing downright evil things in C... which, if you didn't know, is the -only- way to get anything done in C.

Python is okay, but I'd suggest perl first... Python is really weird to work in owing to its alignment "virtues"
