What would you say is the biggest factor in determining where you work or what you do for a living?

I totally agree, I could never work to my full ability doing some thing I hate. In my case it will probably be bodyguard or military work I'll get into, because I love action and being where I know things could go really wrong.

Once you start a career in a decade or so, you lose the luxury of being able to pick a job based solely on how much fun it is. Security and stability become your principal factors.

I wish I could pick a career based on my enjoyment level.

Doing something that I think I would like to do, and also doing something that has the ability to help other people. Money of course is important, but I'd rather be happy than rich, and feel like I've made a difference than have a lavish mansion.

Hence I'm going to be a writer.

I voted other, as there are couple of combinations there. It is important that you work at a job that both pays well and is something you enjoy. You don't want to go around hating life because you got stuck working somewhere you don't like.

I picked "something fun". While I would consider a temporary job based on money, I wouldent commit myself to a career path, unless it was something I trully enjoyed.

Money, in the sense that I need to be able to support myself (and whoever else I bring into my life) and live a comfortable life. But besides that, personal interest is most important to me.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I think I'm interested most in becoming an architect.

A job should be about giving you a standard of living. This means different things to different people. My answer is a mixture of the options which may flutuate as I age and my home conditions change.

You should really have made this a multiple option poll. I get a few things out of my work. Another option to add is coworkers. I've almost always had great ones and most of my closest friends have been or are coworkers.

But I have been fortunate that I landed a job that I enjoy with cool co-workers, and with great pay.
