What's the intelligence level on the OT forum?

How smart are the people on this forum?

however, there are probably more so that are so far off the chart, so bitter, so ideolgically driven, and so damn left-wing that i simply never read their posts.

Are mine bitter, very ideologically driven, and so damnright-wing that you simple neglect to read all of mine?

Lower than Apolyton's.

Await TF's swift retribution on that one.

@ luceafarul: well, I have noticed I have a knack for being horribly cruel to AI and other players on many games. I'm also quite good at immitations or copying accents, as it applies to CFC I then have Not Applicable talents.

Incidentally, how does one estimate creative intelligence here?

Witt and humour are good creative indicators, but in reality you can't effectively at least not on this forum. And their is no effective test for it either? Think about it, how could there be?

Really though, many of the world's most successful people started with what others labeled as unrealistic dreams. Don't let other people tell you what can't be done. If you've thought your ideas through carefully then just go ahead and proceed to prove them wrong
And I will, Moahahaha!

I would also like to second the opinion that other areas of the CFC forums are more intelligent than the OT section. Most notably the history board.

I voted above average. I really don't know many more forums which are as intelligent as CFC-OT and World History (I'm not much into CivIV/III and others, I'm affraid to buy myself CivIV because I'm currently preoccupied with Law School, and you all know that Civ can get somewhat addictive).

Anyways, CFC is an excellent forum, thanks not only to intelligent posters but also to intelligent mods and admins. Thank you guys.
I love you!

Congratulations, but Perfection is right, the quality of WillJ's posts, and the depth of thought that he was capable of, were far beyond most high school students. A word of advice though, you may be a hotshot straight A's student in high school, but however smart you think you are, when you go to college/university, you'll realise quickly that there are thousands of people who are MUCH smarter than you. It's only when you're pitted against the brightest minds in the country, and posed with problems that only the brightest minds can solve, that you can truely know just how smart you are.

WillJ may very wll be smarter than me. I will not argue that since I haven't read many of his posts. But you have to be careful in separating "intelligent" vs. "people who agrees with you."

College Ranking

1 Harvard University (MA)
1 Princeton University (NJ)
3 Yale University (CT)
4 University of Pennsylvania
5 Duke University (NC)
5 Stanford University (CA)
What does that have to do with anything?

In this case it's fairly obvious that Mise is not making this fallacy.

But I judge all intelligence on people's ability to agree with me when I'm right, and sway my opinion when I'm wrong !

The good old college rankings list, completely worthless to anyone who isn't vain.

It is also intelligence (of a very devilish nature no doubt) to sway your opinion even when you are "right"! :) Don't you think so? So by your measurement criterion you may miss out in identifying some intelligence.

Indeed; any college list that weights selectivity as a standard is horsehockey.

"It's a good college simply because people think it is!"

If someone can sway my opinion when I'm right, then clearly they are intelligent. (that was easy)

(emphasis mine)

so by your own definition, if anyone anytime sways your opinion he/she is intelligent. ;)

If I sway my opinion due to discourse, then clearly my original position was wrong, and the person who swayed me was intelligent.

Case in point - you've corrected my definition of intelligence. Point to betazed.

The knowledge level here is quite amazing on various subjects, i'd say. As for the intelligence level... it is well above "Hubba? Hubba!". :)

Sounds like somebody is going to a junior college :p

No, actually. I'm going to Bentley College.

EDIT: In retrospect, you aren't even accepted to Harvard yet.

Or Almuni contributions. Wow, the alumni gives so much to the schools endowment, it must be really good!

1. Be sure not to confuse education with intelligence. They are related but we all know highly educated people that aren't that bright and uneducated people that are.

2. There are ways to measure an educational institution, and they usually apply differently to each individual field of study. Examples would be the student to teacher ratio, the education level of the instructors, the amount of facilities and their quality, the school budget per pupil, etc.

I have a question for everyone, can you guys reconsider your selection on what you voted for?I am thinking of changing a slot down from below average to most are 'not so bright' .:coffee:
