wha'ts the reason you choose your names and avatars?

I chose my avatar because I wanted something Sporting, but didnt feel like putting a picture of dead ducks on the board.

My name is Wes, and I used the title"gr8ful" in allmost all of the boards I have posted on. Mostly because I enter new boards to ask simple questions and am thankful for helpful answers. Plus I was/am a Deadhead.

Chose my avatar because I love the film it is taken from, and it seemed appropriate within the context of the Civ3 demogame.

My name is the greek root of the word "eclectic", which I butchered to create a greek-style masculine name. It also apparently means something akin to "licks the food" in Afrikaans, although I didn't know that when I started using it...

I like Hamlet. What more can be said? I also like Kenneth Brannagh, but that's a side issue.

My avatar is an Europa Universalis II shield - The Danish one, of course.

As a civ Test of Time fan I've called myself "bifrost", because in Midgard scenario bifrost was the rainbow bridge connecting the world of gods - Asgard with the world of people - Midgard, by the way, as a mythology-addict I can say that civToT Midgard scenario is totally based on celtic and Viking myths, so this is what I am.

For those wondering: My old avatar was a character from Penny Arcade, in a cartoon about annoying forum posters who don't use periods. The cartoon is an educational cartoon, showing how fun a period can be. I just used him because he was so...I don't know. I just had to use him.

Now, of course, I fell in love with Cowboy Bebop, so its Spike. And I always have my titles coincide with either my avatar or my location, so I had to use "bang" as my title.

I've had a few ideas of switching my name, but now that I'm on enough boards, I'm stuck. Oh well.

My avatar is a photo of Sultan Bhargash.

Sultan Bhargash was an Omani ruler of the East African island of Zanzibar and related coastal holdings in the mid-late 1800s, who brought electricity, telephones, a small rail, and several palaces and baths to the island.

I chose to use him as my alter ego because I lived in Zanzibar in the year 2000 and fell in love with the place, then tried to make a Swahili civilization mod when Civ3 first came out and I joined this site.

I think I have answered all this in other similar threads before.
