What's Your Political Compass?

Can we get an updated graph with members from the other three (+) threads? Or a least the most recent. Nodplzthx.

I'm ~ 3,-3

I'm a quad IV guy and I'd appreciate it if the website could provide at least one historical example somewhere in this quad.

@OP: The CFCOT average is ~ -2, -2

ps. Thatcher and Hitler ~=... fantastic. You godwinned Thatcher in the OP, what kinda conservative are you?!

I don't know how to show you my political compass straight from the site itself, but I noticed my results: Economic Left/Right: 0,80
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0,32

So I'm a centrist, right?

Within 2-3 of center (be it .com or .CFCOT) is centrist? One standard deviation, statistically speaking?

I bet Intregal or Jericho could provide a graph with each sample's standard deviation highlighted.

@OP: "big republican"? More like "reactionary ultra-conservative".

@ESB: Stop using commas with numbers.

Here's hoping I get higher than a 6 for both again!

*takes test*

Darn it! Not as bad as that time when I had a 4 in one of them, though!
Economic Left/Right: 5.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 5.85

The most recent (but still pretty old) graph:
Spoiler August 2008 :
attachment.php

Sample statistics:
Average econ: -0.59 (stdev 5.04)
Average social: -3.23 (stdev 3.48)
Median econ: -0.15
Median social: -3.59
Observations: 80

There are a few errors on the graph - some misspelling of names and (possibly) a few misplaced dots. Since it's over six months old, some members have changed positions since the making of the graph. The averages have moved around a bit too.

I took the test again and the results are so laughably inaccurate that I'm not going to post them. There really needs to be an updated version of the test.

well, according to it I'm economically a liberal (accurate, I associate myself with New Keynsian) and I think the government shouldn't interfere in personal lives (more of a libertarian on social issues) so I guess that makes me liberal.

As for insterstellar cloning, I'm against it.

Yeah sorry. :p
Good.
But nobody answered my question yet: Am I authorized to call myself a centrist?

Within 2-3 of center (be it .com or .CFCOT) is centrist? One standard deviation, statistically speaking?

Within |1|, |1| of center is DEFINITELY centrist. Within |2|, |2| is, most certainly.

So am I like neutral one, not swinging in the both sides of the possible spectrums?
If someone is radically liberal on social issues and radically conservative on fiscal and foreign policy, resulting is a 3, 3 (or 1, 1) range from center... I'm not sure that is centrist. I think we need to take each issue (at least the "Big 3" political issue catagories) in its own regard. If you score within a standard deviation of center but feel all abortion is murder (or believe in gender equality, absolutely)... are you "centrist"? A similar circumstance could be created for any of many issues.

@Ecofarm: Those definitions are always tricky. IMHO, the Political Compass is a not very accurate tool to show strangers which guy you will actually vote in the next election, for example. But if I'm really a centrist, that's fine with me.

There are plenty of (I think justified) one-issue voters.

You (and I) are statistically centrists... I don't know if that is "really". I'm radical/revolutionary on most issues and it just kinda evens out because my consistancy lies in personal ethics (and beliefs) and not political parties.

You know you're a nerd when you cannot find even a political party.

Look, I have a lampshade on my head! Like a hat!

Anyone?

I drink alone.

BYOK

The surest defense against Evil is extreme individualism, originality of thinking, whimsicality, even / if you will / eccentricity. That is, something that can't be feigned, faked, imitated; something even a seasoned imposter couldn't be happy with.”
Joseph Brodsky quotes (Russian born American Poet and Writer. Nobel Prize for Literature in 1987. 1940-1996)

Economic Left/Right: 9.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.64

More authoritarian than I used to be

If you support the existence of public school or the IRS (the 16th amendment), the 9.12 is crap. I don't and I'm only a 3.

"I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong."

What kind of questions are these? It's like playing 'tick the Nazi box'.

Thanks so much for that blind accusation. You'll forgive me for being a patriot. Please try to understand it doesn't make me a Nazi.
