Dear Firaxis

I trust you’re all well.

Good work on the Patch. Clearly a lot of work has gone into it.

However. For future reference, may I ask that you please do not say “coming soon” when you mean “maybe more than a week”?

Perhaps just say “a few weeks” or “sometime in June”.

You know. Just so there’s no... er... confusion.

Many thanks.

Kind regards
ACW

Common, give FXS a break people !

I'm sure they really meant SOON... and if a bug crept up unannounced and unexpected, and has to be fixed, good on them that they take adequate time to fix it !!!

I just hate software producers that releases known bugged stuff !!!

A noted elsewhere, the Mac and Linux versions sent to 2k for approval last week apparently didn't get final approval and new versions were sent about 24 hours ago. I don't know how long it will take for 2k to give the thumbs-up or -down on these.

IIRC, they said in the livestream that they want to release the patch for all three platforms simultaneously.

So basically, when we get the patch depends on (1) whether the latest Mac and Linux versions are approved and (2) how long approval takes.

And that could be today or sometime next week. Slim chance for even longer.

Getting Linux version the same day as Windows is worth waiting some extra days, as I'm a Linux user

I’m not knocking them. It’ll be ready when it’s ready, and that’s okay. Promise.

It’s just been a long wait.

Sigh.

Oh. The fun Vicky, me and our little Sea Dog will have.

And those rolling fields of Lumbermills.

Oh my!

They did say that they had to nail down a MP bug first. That's communication progress. It indicates that while their goal is to release quickly, the final date isn't set in stone.

I'm okay with how they handled it. It's a ton better than radio silence.

Agreed with EP - their communication has definitely been more detailed than in the past. I am excited for the patch as well, but I am more than OK with it taking as long as is required to get it right. This approach will help prevent crazy issues like the 'everyone spawns on top of each other in snow' bug (which for me made the game unplayable the entire time that bug was active).

So let's just sit tight :)

Firaxis can work as long as they want on a huge free update.
It would help tons if they talk to their fanbase if for whatever reason there is a delay do.
Next week would be fine with me. Currently on early 1938 on my sovjet hoi4 game.
Having a great time with paradox hoi the last 2 weeks.

yeah i'm going to be out of town boardgaming until monday anyhow, so i suppose next week would be fine

I feel bad for them because people complain if they donn't communicate, and now they complain if they do communicate, it is a lose-lose situation for them

Hmm well, I see your point, and I agree fans can be really hard to please, but still, there's room for improvement. I don't expect new videos and stuff, but just a post on twitter saying: "Sorry, no release this week, bug still not fixed, we hope next week." or "Sorry, bug is hard to locate, may be a while before patch arrives." would be great. Just to let people know every now and then what the situation is, and that wouldn't take a whole lot of resources.

But that is literally what they did.

I hope they do another round of livestream while waiting. We appreciate they communicated with us the issue on multiplayer that still needs to be resolved.

It's a June update - assuming no delays I think it's fair for them to say 'soon' and expect that people will read that as meaning 'within the month'. The expansionesque features of the original announcement - features they said they weren't yet ready to show, a 'first pass' at several elements, and mention of a 'surprise' to be revealed closer to the time (and which has still not been revealed) were all hints that this was not going to be a 'later this week' patch however many people hoped for it. There's more than a bug fix here - "finishing touches to your content" may just be bland template text, but it likely also means that they're still actually working on the patch.

Possibly they should have expected that fans would hope 'soon' meant 'this week' unless they explicitly said otherwise, but they were fairly upfront in communicating that this patch was not imminent. Fans not wanting to hear what they were being told isn't really a case of Firaxis not communicating.

They probably thought that this little bug would have been fixed by now. In retrospect, It would have been better not to have all those patch videos until they knew that they could deliver. Which probably proves that this is a very difficulty bug to fix. I was joking in another thread about June 28. Sadly that doesn't look like a joke any more.

According to Steam, update is scheduled for 02h 47m tomorrow.
that seems to be an update for multiple games related to steam components, not updates of the games themselves.

Rise & Fall. Or Rise & rise and even more rise ... The June solstice – summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern Hemisphere – will happen on June 21, 2019, at 15:54 UTC.

That is the perfect time for a true Rise & Fall event!

Yes, don't get me wrong, I was not complaining over current status, quite on the contrary, what they did now was exactly what I think they should do. I just think it would be nice if they did that every week in periods where things are in limbo, like now.
