Where you stand on the political compass..

What's moralistic about assuming that "progress" implies the kind of change that a one-party system cannot provide? Seems logical to me, not moral.

Actually I think I'll digress at this point... The idea of the quiz would appear to be that you answer however you feel is right... It's all about how you feel, no matter if these feelings are logical or moral or not, if they have a logical or moral basis or not, or if they can be rationalized or moralized or not.

Bearing my earlier example of a dictator who raises the average life expectancy of a nation in mind, how is this not progress? Making a blanket statement that a one-party state cannot ever have progress, is a moral decision.

I am not taking issue with those who think a multi-party democracy is superior; I am taking issue with those who designed the test. The person/people who created the test has/have an obligation to ensure that the questions are not skewed in favor of a given political ideology. Such a question would have thrown up red flags if this test was intended to be an impartial "political compass".

One labeled Political Compass graph coming right up! Interesting to note is that, on the political compass, SonicX and Fetus4188 are exactly the same.

Do the symbols represent anything, or are they just random?

Excel assigned them based on when I added you to the graph. I added myself first, then went through the thread and added everyone else, then had to go back and re-add Gabryel Karolin because I accidentally deleted him. Each person is a separate data set - probably not the simplest way to make the graph but still the simplest way to label all of the data points.

Wow, I'm at the least populated region in the political compass.

@Cuivienen. Thanks

You're firmly in Socialist-Communist territory ;)

And a guide to which American parties best fit which areas:

(+, +) Constitution, Republican
(+, -) Libertarian
(-, +) No parties of significance (Socialist Workers is the largest)
(-, -) Green
(0, 0) Democratic

The Reform Party is all over the place. Right now, they aren't far from the Greens, but they've been way out with the Constitutionalists relatively recently as well.

you can add my data, :D seems that being an convinced freethinker makes me quite a libertarian :goodjob:
values: -4.63, -6.05

just realised I am pretty close to Dalai Lama, that's quite true I guess

I see that I make CFC's Top 10 Most Liberal Posters. :salute: And I'm the fourth most collectivist!

Big thanks to Cuivienen for that graph... I was not looking forward to having to add all of those names.

You people are all over the place, gota get yourselves together. I'm nice and centred :D

Wonder when someones going to rig it to get 0,0

Who has the data packed up together?

I'm interested to see for instance, what is the average distance between CFCers and what two CFCers are farthest appart. It would be fun to know.

Or I can build it into a smooth topographical map or wave interference map.

For the record, I scored:

Economic Left/Right: -3.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.31

which is about middle-of-the-pack when looking at those who did the test.
like othres I missed the "no opinion" choice for some of those statements.

I thought this was the old political compass test formed from a total of ten questions or thereabouts and so I initially skipped it. My bad, here are my numbers:

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: 6.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.46

No big surprise for me.
