Where your Legos at?

ALL my LEGO - and it is a LOT, 4 cupboards with 6 drawers each full to the brim - is in my basement. I can't wait for my kids to grow from DUPLO into LEGO age :D

Oo, I have some instructions in there too. And a book I got a long time ago about how to make all sorts of gadgets with legos! That was pretty cool.

Hmm, don't think I had that. Sounds like it would've been interesting.

It drove me nuts when my great-grandmother put non-lego-related toys and stuff in the lego bin, though. Like crayons and plastic doggies. Crayons and plastic doggies have no place in the lego bin.

Indeed, they do not. They cannot compare to the awesomeness of the Lego. :crazyeye:

Looking at the BrickFactory site (Simon, you rock! :goodjob:), I can update my Lego thing:
1 Space
7 Alpha Team - I dunno, I just have a lot. Their pieces, while not molded, were pretty cool, with flats you couldn't find elsewhere AFAIKnew
2 Star Wars
1 ResQ
1 Life on Mars
1 Insectoids
1 Bionicle

Pretty damn sweet (though I wish I had more...;))

I gave mine to a friend in middle school. But i'm starting to miss them (the legos not the friend)

OK - this thread has inspired me. I'm going to start my 4 month old son's collection this x-mas! Any ideas on what I should get? I am not looking for anything too expensive, and remember he is 4 months old so it will be a while before he can enjoy them...

A good idea is to start stopping at garage sales when you see them. My wife has bought lots of Legos cheap that way. New Lego sets are very pricey.

Gooblah: welcome :D Pity the site does not offer a DL for all models.

BSmith1068: get the giant LEGO (what they call DUPLO here in Europe). Anything else is too small, your kid might swallow them and choke!

Yeah - any regular lego I would get him he wouldn't get until he was old enough to safely play with them. The idea is that if I start now and get him something small every year for x-mas or his birthday, when he is old enough he will already have a decent collection.

That and it give me an excuse to buy legos now!

I am sure that we will get the bigger Duplo legos at some point, but somehow that is just not as fun (for me) as the real thing...

I'm looking for advice as to which real lego sets I should get him, starting now...

Plain bricks. Giant tubs of plain bricks. Don't screw up your kid by starting him on models with instructions. Give him creativity. You can never have too many 2x4 bricks.

And yes, they will be expensive. But you build the collection over time.

Yeah I never actually built the stuff on the box.... actually I never got it in a box, we got a huge sackful of a neighbours grown up sons Lego

Yup! When I was little and played with my legos with my cousins, I'd assign the small ones to just search for pieces for me, mostly to avoid frustrating myself. :)

Little Lego minions? That's not a bad idea.

Also, my mother forced us to sort our Lego once, had these tiny little boxes where different pieces where placed. It lasted about a week, i didn't have time to sort my Lego's after i where done with them :mischief:

Are we talking about those plastic building bricks?

I hate using proper nouns.
