My guess is usually one of the four (?) that have already been mentioned/leaked in some capacity- Rome, Germany, Spain, or India (India most prominently) but Greece would make sense in keeping with the Olympics theme. I have been trying to keep up with promotional material as best I can, but it's entirely possible I'm missing something (I in no way had enough time to watch every single youtube video that came out this week, LOL) so it's possible there's something obvious being teased that i'm spacing on.

I find it kind of delightful how people are speculating about which random historical date will impact the decision, but I seriously doubt that's how it's actually being discussed. Brazil was obvious and the reason was talked about by the devs in their livestream, but as far as the others go, if they were tying the releases to important dates, they'd have it announced in some capacity rather than leaving people to speculate. Moreover, civs with long histories will have important dates almost every week of the year, and it seems like a completely unnecessary headache for the promo people to try and figure out exactly how to place each civ according to some or another occurrence.

that said, and i'm being a thousand percent serious, kudos to you who are looking up this stuff- even if it's not intended it's really fun to have this kind of pattern attached to the releases.

Yeah, I think we can be pretty confident the leader bingo was spot on, at least at some stage in the game's development. So far every leader revealed since that was leaked has matched up with our guesses, and we have pretty strong indications that Barbarossa and Trajan are both in too.

That's not to say they couldn't have changed one or two of the Civs/leaders appearing in the base game since the video was filmed, of course.

I voted Russia just cause it's the one I want to see most now. I would love for Russia to be interesting this time, cause CiV Russia was really bland and boring.

Wouldn't be surprised not to see a new civ announced or any video released next week after this week's previews.

If they announce a new one I guess they are going for the obvious civs first. So Rome, Greece, Russia or Germany.

I think that is the case as well. Population growth was the most boring name for an ability in civ 5.

Personally I found it a bit insulting to India, you know, it's basically "overpopulation: the indian special power". Plus it was the only UA with a downside, also very controversial one (regarding its usefullness, usually rated low).

I want them to get Spain out of the way. It's the only confirmed civ that hasn't had a video yet iirc.

I believe he is talking about how Conquistadores showed up in that magazine preview (although so did indian elephants)

Yes, was aware of the Conquistadors, I wasn't sure if we've seen more than just borders of India though. So it's both India and Spain.

I know we've seen snippets of Rome and Russia as well (Russia's old Civ 5 border colors and Rome's leader Trajan)

Border colours don't count as confirmation. Neither does seeing someone-that-looks-like-Trajan in a dev video screenshot.

With the Olympics underway it's hard not to think of Russia and it's prowess in the games. We may see them led by Peter the Great soon enough. I thought someone like Ivan the Terrible would bring some flavor to the series. or maybe one of the more charasmatic and confrontational Soviet leaders. But signs point to Peter making a return.

voted for Kongo, if for no reason than wishful thinking... it would go a ways to proving if the leaked (slipped up, w/e) leader board analysis has any potential to be spot-on.

...I have no idea what are you talking about, both obscure Catherine di Medici and improbable inclusion of Brazil in vanilla game happened, and thus confirmed the "leaked" puzzle.

Personally I hope it will be India or Rome this week.

9th of August is my birthday, so I hope it'll be Rome. :)
