Which country will start WW3 and Why?

and there might also be optimism as to how quickly and easily they could win, like Japan in 1942.

It's always fascinating, looking back. I've read a quote attributed to a Japanese admiral that made it seem like he more or less knew the conflict with the USA was unwinnable, in advance. Though regimes like that or CCP tend to suppress news they don't like, so it's doubtful this would stop China from doing something like that.

You're referring to Yamamoto? Tojo seemed to believe that they could win a quick war and put the US public off the mood for it.

In any case, the Japanese militarists and the Nazis thought their days would be numbered if they didn't fight right then - the Japanese from the US economic embargo and the Nazis from the looming economic crisis that was going to ruin Germany (again).

Eventually, the CCP might decide that the Chinese economy was going to be on the decline (comes with increasing isolation and demographic crisis), in which case domestic support for them would erode anyway. Then they might decide to start a war. I hope it doesn't happen and the regime simply collapses or reforms, but...

Collapse/reform peacefully would be nice, but I have a feeling that an authoritarian regime that is posturing/pushing for land (with familiar pattern of appeasement) and putting people in concentration camps/doing genocide is probably the same type of regime that would view a surplus of unmarried, disgruntled men as a resource to be expended. One of those times I hope I'm wrong.

Could it be this one?

so who else has ever heard of the thing that the best place to watch Tora Tora Tora was Bora Bora ?

Didn't Russian troops drill as attachments within Chinese formations and command structure earlier this year? Seems pretty normal. International waters and all that for this flotilla.

Drills were quite rare in the past, becoming more often last years. Joint naval patrols is a new development, never happened before.

I didn't realize they were new. Seems to have gone off peacefully enough. Japan didn't threaten retaliation or anything?

Why would Japan threaten retaliation? International waters.

Bit more of a direct threat if they're doing it in Japanese waters.

It's all part of the game.

I guess I've just gotten used to threats being the end-line of all news regarding naval drills.

"...and we'll kill you all and your stupid boats too!" /Scooby Doo voice off

Nobody was threatened, but walruses hopefully received warning message due to their recent hostilities!
London & Moscow (CNN) A walrus attacked and sunk a Russian Navy landing boat in the Arctic Ocean last week, with no one hurt in the incident.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the female animal was protecting its calves when it targeted the craft carrying researchers to the shore of Cape Geller in the Arctic.
Those on board were members of a joint expedition by the Northern Fleet -- Russia's naval fleet in the Arctic -- and the Russian Geographical Society (RGO).

My point is.. If you have U.S. citizenship surely you aren't a foreign national.
I agree, but it doesn't mean you do not have to be vetted by someone who takes responsibility.
That leaves a lot of people who will have to be checked.

You look out for black velvet hair bands, I think.

Would Irish-Americans be all put in camps if the U.S. went to war against Ireland? Do you just round up all the red haired people or how do you do this exactly
Ask the USA about that.
I'm describing what has happened before, take it or leave it.
There are many Chinese in the USA who are not citizens. All of them would have to
accounted for and repatriated, or put in internment camps in the event of an actual war.
And vice versa - US citizens in China would either be sent home or imprisoned.
I'm not sure why you have trouble accepting that?
